The Egyptian artist Somaya El Alfy passed away this morning (Sunday) at the age of 72, after a long battle with illness.

Funeral Date and Location

Alfy El Alfy, the brother of the late artist, announced in a special statement to "Okaz" the date of the funeral, saying: The funeral prayer is scheduled to take place this afternoon at Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque in Mohandessin.

Struggle with Illness

It is worth mentioning that Somaya El Alfy suffered from cancer for many years. Despite announcing her complete recovery in 2023, the illness returned to her, and her health deteriorated until she left this world today.

A Career Full of Creativity

The artist Somaya El Alfy presented a variety of characters in comedy and drama, participating in dozens of works that remain etched in the minds of the audience, such as: "Ali Bey Mazar and 40 Thieves" (1985), "Layali El Helmia" (series), "Bab El Halawani" (4 parts), "Al Raya Al Bayda" (1988), and "Dimaa Ba'ad Muntasaf Al-Layl" (1995).

Throughout her career, she presented more than 100 works in cinema, theater, and television, distinguished by her ability to transition between comedic and tragic roles with brilliance. She also participated in successful Ramadan series such as "Al Attar and the Seven Girls" (2002) and "Layali El Helmia."

Her Family Life

Somaya El Alfy was born in Abu Kabir, Sharqia Governorate, on July 32, 1953.
Her first appearance was in the series "Afwah wa Aranib," and she married for the first time to the artist Farouk El Fishawy, with whom she has two sons, Ahmed and Omar, but she later divorced him.
She also married the composer Mody El Imam, followed by director Gamal Abdel Hamid, and singer Medhat Saleh, but these marriages were very short-lived.

Last Appearance

At the beginning of last October, the artist Somaya El Alfy made her last appearance after a long absence when she visited the filming location of the movie "Safaah El Tagammu," starring her son, artist Ahmed El Fishawy, in a humanitarian gesture to provide support and encouragement during his artistic work. She was seen on set following the scenes and keen to watch her son's clips in the film.
Somaya El Alfy spoke about the details of her visit to the filming location and her opinion of the film, confirming that the work carries a different directorial vision and that the audience will be surprised by the character presented by Ahmed El Fishawy, describing it as new and bold. She added that as soon as she watched the film, she expressed her pride in her son, affirming that he has made her and his father's heads held high.
