The young Lebanese artist Mohamed Fadel Shaker commented on the controversial criticisms made by Nicola Maawad about his father, attacking those who celebrated his return to the artistic scene, expressing his discontent with the attempt to whitewash his image without real accountability.

Mohamed Fadel Shaker told "Okaz," "I contacted Nicola personally to hear from him the reason for his sudden violent attack on my father." He added, "Nicola told me that he made those statements out of love and in defense of the homeland and the army," pointing out that he reproached Nicola for being unfair to his father with inaccurate statements and that the truth about his father's political crises had not yet emerged without confirming the full reality.

Nicola Maawad admitted to being hasty and wrong in judging his father before the judiciary had made its final decision regarding Fadel Shaker's crises, commenting: "Nicola Maawad admitted his mistake and apologized to us as a family and promised that he would issue a statement of apology for his offensive remarks about my father."

Nicola Maawad sparked widespread controversy in recent days after he directed sharp criticisms at those he described as justifying Fadel Shaker's taking up arms against his country's army. He said on his personal account on Instagram: "The opportunity for repentance is not given to those who raised arms against the army; the red card is given to those who are held accountable and show true repentance."

Nicola continued: "In any other country, a person like this would be imprisoned instead of releasing albums; it's shameful." This stance deepened the controversy and heightened reactions among supporters and opponents.

Within hours, Nicola Maawad retracted his offensive statements about Fadel Shaker, confirming that his comments came out of love and jealousy for his homeland and its army, and not in search of "trending," as some claimed.
