يشهد الطريق الواصل بين مكة المكرمة والسيل باتجاه محافظة الطائف، ازدحاماً مرورياً لافتاً مع بداية الإجازة الصيفية لهذا العام. وتسببت كثرة الشاحنات في تفاقم الزحام، خصوصاً في المنطقة الممتدة من كوبري السيل الكبير وحتى كوبري الدهاس المؤدي إلى طريق الرياض السريع، وذلك خلال الفترة المسائية من بعد صلاة العصر وحتى العاشرة ليلاً، نتيجة تزامن حركة الشاحنات مع عبور أعداد كبيرة من المركبات الصغيرة.
وطالب عدد من مرتادي الطريق، خصوصاً المصطافين، ومن بينهم محمد السفياني وعبدالله الحارثي وناصر البقمي ومحمد عبدالله السفياني، بضرورة تنظيم مرور الشاحنات للحد من الازدحام، مستشهدين بما حدث عند إغلاق طريق الكر قبل عامين بسبب أعمال الصيانة، حيث ساهم تقنين حركة الشاحنات حينها في تخفيف الضغط المروري بشكل كبير. وأشاروا إلى أن محافظة الطائف تستقبل أعداداً كبيرة من الزوار من مختلف مناطق المملكة ودول الخليج للاستمتاع بأجوائها المعتدلة في مواقع مثل الحوية والهدا والشفا، ما يستدعي تسهيل انسيابية الحركة المرورية.
كما أكدوا، أن الإسراع في استكمال مشروع الطريق الجديد المخصص لسير الشاحنات من جهة مركز عشيرة شمال الطائف وصولاً إلى ميقات السيل الكبير سيضع حداً لهذه المشكلة المرورية المتكررة، موضحين أن نسبة كبيرة من المشروع قد اكتملت ولم يتبق سوى نحو 20% تشمل الأكتاف والمخارج.
The road connecting Mecca and Al-Sail towards Taif is witnessing significant traffic congestion with the start of this year's summer vacation. The large number of trucks has exacerbated the congestion, especially in the area extending from the Al-Sail Al-Kabeer Bridge to the Al-Dahas Bridge leading to the Riyadh highway, during the evening period from after the afternoon prayer until ten at night, due to the simultaneous movement of trucks and the crossing of a large number of small vehicles.
A number of road users, particularly vacationers, including Mohammed Al-Sufiani, Abdullah Al-Harithi, Nasser Al-Buqami, and Mohammed Abdullah Al-Sufiani, have called for the need to organize truck traffic to reduce congestion, citing what happened when the Al-Kar road was closed two years ago due to maintenance work, where regulating truck movement at that time significantly alleviated traffic pressure. They pointed out that the Taif governorate receives a large number of visitors from various regions of the Kingdom and Gulf countries to enjoy its moderate climate in locations such as Al-Hawiyah, Al-Hada, and Al-Shifa, which necessitates facilitating the smooth flow of traffic.
They also confirmed that expediting the completion of the new road project designated for truck traffic from the Ashira Center north of Taif to the Al-Sail Al-Kabeer Miqat will put an end to this recurring traffic problem, explaining that a large percentage of the project has been completed, with only about 20% remaining, which includes the shoulders and exits.
