The falcon remains the starting point of the Saudi International Falcon and Hunting Exhibition, and around it, the experience expands year after year. What began with falconry and hunting has today come to encompass multiple interests, from trips and adventures to shooting, vehicles, culture, entertainment, products, and services, without losing the identity from which the exhibition originated.
Here, the experience of the National Falcon Center deserves attention. Reaching a new audience has not come from changing the identity of the exhibition, but rather from building experiences around it. The falconer finds falcons and their necessities, hunting, and auctions, while the adventure enthusiast finds hiking, safari, and off-roading, and shooting enthusiasts discover various experiences, while families, children, and youth find content closer to their interests.
This expansion also changes the image of the audience that the exhibition can reach. A visitor does not need to be a falconer to find a reason to attend; they may come for the cars, off-roading, shooting, adventures, or products, only to find themselves in front of the falcon, its story, and its culture. Here lies the value of the experience: different interests become an entry point to the heritage itself.
This idea is more clearly illustrated in "Falconer of the Future," which presents falconry to children in an interactive manner, and in the "Shlayel Museum," which offers knowledge about falcons and falconry, alongside the experience of hunting and calling. On the other hand, options expand to include marine hunting, hiking, safari, off-roading, and various types of shooting, as well as camel and horse auctions, workshops, and folkloric performances, allowing different interests to coexist within a single destination.
I believe the most important equation here is to keep the falcon at the center. The expansion into entertainment, adventure, and products is not valuable merely for increasing the number of activities, but for its ability to attract a diverse audience to a space where falconry remains the core focus. This transforms the exhibition from an event that addresses a specialized community into a destination where different segments of society can find what suits them.
This diversity is reinforced by the presence of companies, exhibitors, and local and international products, giving visitors the opportunity to transition between knowledge, experience, shopping, and entertainment in a single visit. It also opens the door for exhibitors, specialists, artisans, and service providers to reach an audience that goes beyond the traditional circle associated with falconry.
Notably, this expansion does not sever the connection between generations. A father who knows falconry can introduce it to his son through a different experience, while a young person coming for adventure or vehicles may approach the world of falcons for the first time. A child finds content designed to introduce them to this heritage in their own language and interests. Thus, the multiplicity of experiences becomes a means to broaden the knowledge of falconry, not a competitor to it.
This, in my opinion, is one of the most important ideas presented by the Saudi International Falcon and Hunting Exhibition today: preserving heritage does not mean confining it to its traditional audience. The falcon can remain at the center, and the circle can grow around it to include hunting, trips, adventure, shooting, vehicles, culture, entertainment, and business, in a destination where every visitor finds their own entry point, and then everyone meets at the identity from which the story began.
