The Qatif Governorate carries a rich sports heritage created by its clubs, fans, and generations of players, administrators, and coaches. With each season, the aspirations of its people are renewed to see their clubs achieve promotion and reach the first division "Yellow," culminating in the greater ambition of competing in the Saudi Roshan League.
The Gulf "Dana Al-Sihati" represents the face of the governorate in the Roshan League, while the return of Al-Safa and Al-Taraji to the second division, along with Mudar's promotion after many years in the third division, are significant milestones in the journey of Qatif sports, embodying the ambitions of its fans for more achievements.
One of the most beautiful images of sports loyalty is the support of the fans of the governorate's clubs for Al-Taraji in their promotion journey, as the clubs' fan associations rallied behind them, regardless of their colors and affiliations, in a scene that embodied the spirit of the sports family in Qatif, making Al-Taraji's success a shared joy for the people of the region.
These scenes become even more beautiful when the stands of Al-Taraji resonate with the chants of its well-known fan association, nicknamed "Al-Bahharah," in connection with Qatif's location on the shores of the Arabian Gulf. Their traditional Gulf chant "Sami' al-Sawt, Salli 'ala al-Nabi, wa Al-Taraji, Sallim ya Salam" remains one of the distinctive marks in the team's stands, led by the distinguished Mr. Yahya Al-Shankhankh, who adds a flavor of popular folklore and authentic Gulf heritage to the cheering.
The joy of Mudar's promotion is still vivid in my memory; when I attended the promotion celebrations at Prince Naif Sports City Stadium, the image of joy on the faces of the players and fans remained etched in my mind, as did the chants that filled the stadium. It was a moment that encapsulated years of waiting and embodied the deep relationship between the club and its supporters.
I also remember the joy of Gulf fans at Dana Al-Sihati's retention in the Roshan League, when Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam witnessed fan celebrations that included the club's president, Alaa Al-Hamal, and members of its board of directors. I was present alongside Dr. Sami Al-Yateem to support Gulf, in a scene that reflects the club's status among its fans and the value of remaining among the elite.
The image of the presidents of the governorate's clubs at Al-Safa Stadium during its competition in the first division also stands out, enhancing communication between sports leaders and supporting the spirit of cooperation among clubs.
The continuation of achievements requires administrative and technical stability, attention to youth categories, discovery of local talents, diversification of income sources, and encouraging businessmen to support clubs and develop their facilities, alongside long-term planning to ensure the sustainability of successes.
Qatif is rich in talents across various sports, with notable names such as Fouad Al-Nasiri in fencing, Abdul-Munim Hilal in handball, Salem Al-Salem in cycling, Akram Al-Safwani in squash, and Hassan Al-Khabbaz in volleyball, which are examples that affirm the region's sporting wealth.
The fans of Qatif remain an integral partner in creating achievements, and their stands carry a legacy of passion and dreams that renew with each season. Will this season bring new joys and witness the promotion of more than one club to a higher level? The answer remains on the field, and hope continues to thrive in the stands that love their clubs and take pride in their achievements.
