The intense movement led by the Kingdom to end the Gaza war and reach a fair and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, which is fundamentally a two-state solution, has begun to show results through the positions announced by some European countries, as well as the recent American stance towards Israel, which has been characterized by coolness due to its obstinacy and continued war on Gaza, with no regard for the catastrophic humanitarian situation there.
Israel has begun to lose the impact of the narratives it used to justify its crimes; it is in a state of complete exposure before the world, especially the European countries that support it morally and politically. This exposure has caused embarrassing public pressure on governments, forcing them to reconsider their unconditional support for everything Israel does. As a result of the effective role played by the ministerial committee emerging from the conference of Islamic and Arab countries for Gaza, which relies on the influential role of the Kingdom in the international community, we have started to hear, for the first time, clear criticisms of Israel and practical decisions regarding how to deal with it.
And what about the American stance? Everyone knows that the relationship between the two parties is close; in fact, it is the strongest relationship Israel has with another country, with unlimited political, military, and financial support, always standing by it to veto any resolution condemning it at the United Nations. However, at this stage, with President Trump's second administration, it seems that the equation will not be as it was before. America is now positioning itself as a promoter of peace and an end to wars, and its relationship with Arab countries that possess economic power has proven to be more beneficial for it. The massive investment amounts that America recently received during President Trump's visit to the Kingdom, Qatar, and the UAE are more important to it than the absolute support for an aggressive state that causes concern in the region. Therefore, it would be beneficial for America to reshape the American-Israeli relationship in a way that aligns with its significant interests in our region and ensures Israel's compliance with international decisions that achieve peace in the region and guarantee the Palestinians the right to establish their state.
The movement being carried out by the ministerial committee now aims to prepare for an upcoming conference for the two-state solution. The Palestinian political situation remains concerning due to the ongoing disagreements between the legitimate Palestinian Authority and the other factions, foremost among them Hamas. We do not want historical disappointments to repeat themselves if an opportunity arises to achieve the two-state solution due to the Palestinian side's retreat, as happened in previous opportunities. Remember what Prince Bandar bin Sultan said with pain and sorrow in a television interview when a precious opportunity for peace and the restoration of much Palestinian rights arose during his time as ambassador in America during Clinton's presidency, but Yasser Arafat squandered it at the last moment.
