After more than a quarter of a century of absence, the Chinese woman Sun Mi Hua managed to return to her family, in a striking human story that began when an internet user found her in a village in Shandong Province. She appeared exhausted, emaciated, with completely gray hair, and showed clear difficulties in perception.
Despite her condition, she was able to write a few words and note her name along with names believed to be her relatives, as well as references related to Beijing, which prompted volunteers to share her story and photos from before her disappearance; hoping to reach her family.
Unconfirmed accounts suggest that she was born in 1968 into a well-off family in the capital, learned ballet, and was proficient in English, before disappearing in 2000 and later settling with a family in Shandong.
With the help of volunteers, a DNA test was conducted, leading to the identification of her brother in Beijing, allowing Sun Mi Hua to return to her family after 26 years of being lost, but she was unable to meet her parents who had passed away before she was found.
