The organization indicated that the virus transmission remains intense and geographically widespread, with Ituri reporting about 309 confirmed cases and 160 deaths last week, accounting for 48% of the nationally recorded cases, and representing 45% of the total cases during the last week.
Warning of Outbreak Risks
The organization emphasized the need to strengthen response, monitoring, and infection prevention efforts, as well as community engagement, warning of the risks of the outbreak spreading to new areas due to increased population movement.
It also highlighted the continuation of treatment trials after exposure to the virus, with expectations to begin vaccine trials in the coming weeks.
