The security forces of the Egyptian Ministry of Interior apprehended an individual, accused of fraud and deception against citizens and embezzling their money, by claiming to have the ability to heal through spiritual methods and promoting his activities via social media.

Promoting the activity and attracting followers

The General Administration for the Protection of Morality in the Specialized Police Sector monitored an individual with a criminal record engaging in acts of deception and sorcery, misleading citizens by claiming he could provide spiritual healing for a fee.

Investigations revealed that the accused was promoting his activities through pages on social media, posting video clips to attract more followers and advertise his services.

Generating financial profits

After legal procedures were put in place, the security forces managed to apprehend him while he was in the jurisdiction of the Al-Attarīn police station, in possession of two mobile phones, which upon examination contained evidence confirming his criminal activity.

Confronted with the evidence, he admitted to engaging in the activities as described, and acknowledged filming video clips while performing acts of deception and sorcery, broadcasting them on social media pages to increase viewership and generate financial profits.

The security forces have taken the necessary legal actions regarding the incident.
