أعلن وزير الطاقة الأمريكي كريس رايت أن أكثر من 9 ملايين برميل من النفط تُنقل يومياً عبر مضيق هرمز. وقال رايت لقناة ABC: «البحرية الأمريكية تفوز بالمعركة في مضيق هرمز».
وأضاف: «إن إدارة ترمب قد لا تتوصل إلى اتفاق نووي مع النظام الإيراني، وقد لا يكون هناك اتفاق نووي، قد يكون الأمر ببساطة تدمير قدراتهم على القيام بذلك».
إنجاز المهمة
وأكد وزير الطاقة أن الاتفاق النووي مع إيران «قد ينتظر الإدارة القادمة». وصرح رايت بأن على الولايات المتحدة تدمير القدرات النووية الإيرانية، قائلاً: «إن القوات الأمريكية تُضعف قدرتها على تطوير أسلحة نووية، وفي نهاية المطاف، على إيصالها إذا ما تمكنت من تطويرها». وأضاف: «هذا ليس بالأمر الهين، لكن الولايات المتحدة ستنجز المهمة. وسنعمل بالتعاون مع حلفائنا في المنطقة».
تدمير القدرات النووية
ودخل الصراع في الشرق الأوسط شهره السابع، دون أي مؤشر على اتفاق بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران لإنهاء الأعمال العدائية العسكرية وكبح برنامج إيران النووي. وكانت الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل قد شنتا الحرب في أواخر فبراير الماضي، حيث صرّح الرئيس ترمب ومسؤولون في إدارته بأن الهدف هو تدمير القدرات النووية الإيرانية
U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that more than 9 million barrels of oil are transported daily through the Strait of Hormuz. Wright told ABC News: "The U.S. Navy is winning the battle in the Strait of Hormuz."
He added: "The Trump administration may not reach a nuclear agreement with the Iranian regime, and there may not be a nuclear deal; it may simply be about destroying their capabilities to do so."
Completing the Mission
The Energy Secretary confirmed that the nuclear agreement with Iran "may wait for the next administration." Wright stated that the United States must destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities, saying: "U.S. forces are weakening their ability to develop nuclear weapons, and ultimately, to deliver them if they manage to develop them." He added: "This is not an easy task, but the United States will complete the mission. We will work in cooperation with our allies in the region."
Destruction of Nuclear Capabilities
The conflict in the Middle East has entered its seventh month, with no indication of an agreement between the United States and Iran to end military hostilities and curb Iran's nuclear program. The United States and Israel launched the war in late February, with President Trump and officials in his administration stating that the goal is to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities.
