أعلنت ماليزيا حالة الطوارئ في منطقة سريان بولاية ساراواك، بعد تجاوز مؤشر تلوث الهواء مستويات خطرة، في ظل موجة ضباب دخاني تأثرت بها المنطقة نتيجة حرائق في إندونيسيا المجاورة.
وسجل مؤشر ملوثات الهواء في سريان 519 نقطة، متجاوزًا مستوى 500 الذي يمثل العتبة المعتمدة لإعلان حالة الطوارئ، فيما شهدت مناطق أخرى في ساراواك ارتفاعًا ملحوظًا في مستويات التلوث.
دخان الحرائق يعبر الحدود
وتواجه ساراواك موجة ضباب دخاني مرتبطة بحرائق الغابات والأراضي في الجانب الإندونيسي من جزيرة بورنيو، خصوصًا في إقليم كاليمانتان، ما أدى إلى تراجع جودة الهواء في عدد من المناطق الماليزية.
إجراءات لحماية السكان
وجاء إعلان الطوارئ بعد موافقة ملك ماليزيا السلطان إبراهيم إسكندر، بناءً على توصية رئيس الوزراء أنور إبراهيم وحاكم ساراواك، بهدف اتخاذ إجراءات أكثر فاعلية لحماية السكان من آثار التلوث.
وتواصل السلطات مراقبة جودة الهواء، إلى جانب تطبيق إجراءات احترازية في المناطق المتضررة، فيما أُغلقت مدارس في مناطق سجلت مستويات مرتفعة من التلوث، ونُفذت جهود للتخفيف من آثار الضباب الدخاني.
Malaysia has declared a state of emergency in the Sri Aman area of Sarawak after the air pollution index exceeded hazardous levels, amid a haze caused by fires in neighboring Indonesia.
The air pollution index in Sri Aman recorded 519 points, surpassing the threshold of 500 that triggers the declaration of a state of emergency, while other areas in Sarawak have also seen a significant rise in pollution levels.
Smoke from the fires crosses borders
Sarawak is facing a haze linked to forest and land fires on the Indonesian side of Borneo Island, particularly in the Kalimantan region, which has led to a decline in air quality in several Malaysian areas.
Measures to protect residents
The emergency declaration came after the approval of the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, based on the recommendation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Governor of Sarawak, aimed at taking more effective measures to protect residents from the effects of pollution.
Authorities continue to monitor air quality, along with implementing precautionary measures in affected areas, while schools in regions that recorded high pollution levels have been closed, and efforts have been made to mitigate the effects of the haze.
