في واقعة طبية نادرة أثارت دهشة الأطباء في الهند، وُلد طفل حديث الولادة بأربع أذرع وأربع أرجل، في حالة يُشتبه في ارتباطها بما يعرف طبياً بـ«التوأم الطفيلي».
وُلد الطفل في 23 أغسطس الجاري لوالدته ريتا أهيروار، البالغة من العمر 29 عاماً، داخل مركز صحي بمنطقة لكوش ناغار في ولاية ماديا براديش، بوزن بلغ 3 كيلوغرامات.
وبحسب المعلومات الأولية، ظهرت لدى الطفل أطراف إضافية ملتصقة بمنطقة الجزء العلوي من الجذع والبطن، ما دفع الفريق الطبي إلى إجراء تقييم للحالة تمهيداً لتحديد طبيعتها والتدخل المناسب مستقبلاً.
وعندما علم والد الطفل، شيفتشاران أهيروار، بحالة مولوده، هرع إلى المركز الصحي للاطمئنان عليه، ووصف ولادته بأنها «هدية من الله».
وأكد الأطباء أن حالة الطفل مستقرة في الوقت الحالي، إلا أن تحديد طبيعة الأطراف الإضافية ومدى ارتباطها بالطفل يتطلب إجراء فحوصات تصويرية دقيقة.
ومن المقرر أن يخضع المولود لفحوصات متخصصة لتحديد كيفية اتصال الأطراف الإضافية بجسمه، وفحص العظام والأوعية الدموية والدورة الدموية والأعضاء الداخلية، قبل نقله جواً إلى مستشفى متخصص في جابالبور، على بعد نحو 50 كيلومتراً، لاستكمال التقييم الطبي.
حالة واحدة في المليون
ووصف الدكتور سينغ، المشرف على الحالة، الواقعة بأنها من الحالات النادرة للغاية المرتبطة بالتوائم الملتصقة، مشيراً إلى ندرتها الشديدة.
أما الممرضة سافيتا، التي تعمل في المركز الصحي منذ أكثر من 14 عاماً، فقالت إن هذه أول حالة من هذا النوع تواجهها خلال مسيرتها المهنية، موضحة أن الحالات التقليدية من التوائم الملتصقة تتضمن وجود طفلين ملتصقين، بينما تشير الحالة الحالية إلى نمو أحد التوأمين بشكل كامل، في حين لم يتطور الآخر بصورة كاملة واقتصرت الأنسجة المتبقية منه على أطراف.
وتُعرف هذه الظاهرة باسم «التوأم الطفيلي»، وهي من الحالات النادرة التي يكون فيها أحد التوأمين غير مكتمل النمو، بينما يستمر التوأم الآخر في النمو ويولد بأنسجة أو أطراف إضافية مرتبطة بجسمه.
ما التوأم الطفيلي؟
التوأم الطفيلي هو شكل نادر من اضطرابات التوائم الملتصقة، يحدث عندما يتوقف أحد التوأمين عن النمو بصورة طبيعية خلال مراحل مبكرة من الحمل، بينما يستمر الآخر في التطور.
وفي هذه الحالات، قد يبقى جزء من التوأم غير المكتمل متصلاً بجسم التوأم الآخر، وقد يتكون على شكل أطراف أو أنسجة أو أجزاء أخرى من الجسم، فيما يعتمد الجزء غير المكتمل على التوأم السائد في إمداده بالدم والمواد الغذائية.
ولا تزال الآلية الدقيقة التي تؤدي إلى هذه الحالة غير معروفة بشكل كامل، إلا أن إحدى النظريات الطبية تربطها بخلل يحدث خلال المراحل المبكرة من تطور التوأم المتطابق، عندما لا ينفصل الجنينان بصورة كاملة.
وقد يتم اكتشاف بعض هذه الحالات خلال الحمل باستخدام التصوير بالموجات فوق الصوتية، إلا أن اكتشافها ومدى وضوحها يختلفان بحسب حجم الأنسجة الإضافية وموقعها ومدى اتصالها بجسم الجنين.
In a rare medical incident that astonished doctors in India, a newborn baby was born with four arms and four legs, in a condition suspected to be related to what is medically known as "parasitic twin."
The baby was born on August 23 to his mother, Rita Ahirwar, who is 29 years old, inside a health center in the Kosh Nagar area of Madhya Pradesh, weighing 3 kilograms.
According to preliminary information, the baby exhibited additional limbs attached to the upper part of the trunk and abdomen, prompting the medical team to assess the condition in preparation for determining its nature and appropriate future intervention.
When the baby's father, Shifcharan Ahirwar, learned of his child's condition, he rushed to the health center to check on him, describing the birth as "a gift from God."
The doctors confirmed that the baby's condition is currently stable; however, determining the nature of the additional limbs and their connection to the baby requires precise imaging tests.
The newborn is scheduled to undergo specialized examinations to determine how the additional limbs are connected to his body, as well as to examine the bones, blood vessels, circulatory system, and internal organs, before being airlifted to a specialized hospital in Jabalpur, about 50 kilometers away, for further medical evaluation.
One in a Million Case
Dr. Singh, who is supervising the case, described the incident as one of the extremely rare cases associated with conjoined twins, noting its extreme rarity.
Nurse Savita, who has worked at the health center for more than 14 years, said this is the first case of this kind she has encountered in her professional career, explaining that traditional cases of conjoined twins involve two attached children, while the current case indicates that one of the twins has developed fully, while the other has not developed completely, with the remaining tissues limited to limbs.
This phenomenon is known as "parasitic twin," and it is one of the rare cases where one twin is underdeveloped while the other continues to grow and is born with additional tissues or limbs connected to its body.
What is a Parasitic Twin?
A parasitic twin is a rare form of conjoined twin disorders that occurs when one twin stops developing normally during the early stages of pregnancy, while the other continues to develop.
In these cases, a part of the underdeveloped twin may remain attached to the body of the other twin, and it may take the form of limbs or tissues or other parts of the body, while the underdeveloped part relies on the dominant twin for blood and nutrients.
The exact mechanism that leads to this condition is still not fully understood, but one medical theory links it to a malfunction that occurs during the early stages of development of identical twins when the embryos do not fully separate.
Some of these cases may be detected during pregnancy using ultrasound imaging, but their discovery and clarity vary depending on the size of the additional tissues, their location, and how they are connected to the fetus's body.
