أوقفت السلطات اللبنانية صانع المحتوى جورج ديب، المعروف على تطبيق «تيك توك» باسم «دكتور فود»، والمدان غيابياً بحكم مؤبد بجرائم اتجار وتهريب مخدرات.
وقال مصدر قضائي لبناني فضّل عدم الكشف عن هويته، اليوم: «إن الأجهزة الأمنية أوقفت صانع محتوى الطبخ، الذي يتابعه أكثر من 8 ملايين على تيك توك، من منزله في عكار بأقصى شمال لبنان».
وقف وتكبيل
أكدت وزارة الداخلية لاحقاً الخبر، ونشر حساب قوى الأمن الداخلي على «إكس» صورة للمتهم موقوفاً ومكبلاً.
وسينقل ديب الذي يملك كذلك مصانع سكاكر «إلى مكان التوقيف المخصص لدى قصر العدل في جبل لبنان، لإعادة محاكمته بجرائم الاتجار بالمخدرات، وذلك بعد الحكم الغيابي الصادر بحقه عن محكمة الجنايات في جبل لبنان والذي قضى بالسجن المؤبد» بحقه قبل أشهر.
تصنيع المخدرات
أتى هذا التطور بعدما أصدر القضاء اللبناني قبل عامين مذكرة توقيف غيابية بحقّ ديب بجرائم «تصنيع المخدرات والاتجار بها وتهريبها إلى الخارج، إثر ضبط حلوى ومواد غذائية في مطار بيروت مصنّعة بمعامله ومحشوة بالمخدرات، وكانت معدة لشحنها إلى إحدى الدول الخليجية»، وفق ما ذكرت حينها الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام الرسمية.
ضجة كبيرة
ورغم صدور مذكرة توقيف بحقه وحكم مؤبد، واصل ديب نشر المحتوى على تطبيق «تيك توك». بل نفى في 19 يوليو الماضي، بعد انتشار خبر الحكم عليه، عبر فيديو على «تيك توك» الاتهامات الموجهة إليه، وأكد أنه «بريء»، ودعا متابعيه إلى «عدم الإصغاء» لما ينشر عنه على مواقع التواصل.
يذكر أن ديب اشتهر إلى جانب طليقته المعروفة باسم شروق وهي كندية من أصول فلسطينية ولديها أكثر من 15 مليون متابع، بصناعة محتوى عن الطبخ والحياة اليومية، لكنهما انفصلا إثر اتهامها له بتعنيفها. وأقامت شروق ليل السبت «حفل طلاق» حضره الآلاف من متابعيها في أحد المنتجعات البحرية، ما أثار ضجة كبيرة على مواقع التواصل.
The Lebanese authorities have arrested content creator George Dib, known on TikTok as "Dr. Food," who was convicted in absentia to life imprisonment for drug trafficking and smuggling crimes.
A Lebanese judicial source, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated today: "The security forces arrested the cooking content creator, who has over 8 million followers on TikTok, from his home in Akkar in the far north of Lebanon."
Arrest and Restraint
The Ministry of Interior later confirmed the news, and the Internal Security Forces' account on "X" posted a photo of the accused arrested and restrained.
Dib, who also owns candy factories, will be transferred "to the designated detention facility at the Palace of Justice in Mount Lebanon, to be retried for drug trafficking crimes, following the in absentia ruling issued against him by the Criminal Court in Mount Lebanon, which sentenced him to life imprisonment" months ago.
Drug Manufacturing
This development came after the Lebanese judiciary issued an in absentia arrest warrant against Dib two years ago for "manufacturing drugs, trafficking them, and smuggling them abroad, following the seizure of candies and food items at Beirut Airport manufactured in his factories and stuffed with drugs, which were intended for shipment to one of the Gulf countries," according to what the National News Agency reported at the time.
Significant Controversy
Despite the issuance of an arrest warrant against him and a life sentence, Dib continued to post content on TikTok. In fact, on July 19, after news of his sentencing spread, he denied the accusations against him in a TikTok video, asserting that he is "innocent," and urged his followers to "not listen" to what is being said about him on social media.
It is worth noting that Dib became famous alongside his ex-wife, known as Shorouk, a Canadian of Palestinian descent with over 15 million followers, for creating content about cooking and daily life. However, they separated after she accused him of abuse. Shorouk held a "divorce party" on Saturday night, attended by thousands of her followers at a seaside resort, which caused a significant stir on social media.
