اجتاح الإعصار المدمر «لالا» جزيرة «بيغ أيلاند» أكبر جزر ولاية هاواي الأمريكية، مصحوباً برياح عاتية وأمطار غزيرة، مخلّفاً أضراراً مادية جسيمة في البنية التحتية والممتلكات.
وأفادت بيانات موقع «باور أوتج دوت يو إس» المتخصص في رصد انقطاعات التيار الكهربائي، بأن المنخفض الجوي الحاد المصاحب للإعصار تسبب في قطع الكهرباء عن نحو 130 ألف مشترك في الجزيرة الكبرى والمناطق المجاورة لها، واستمر الانقطاع منذ ساعات الليل المتأخرة وحتى صباح اليوم.
فيضانات عارمة
وذكرت تقارير إعلامية أن قوة الرياح أدت إلى اقتلاع الأشجار وتهاويها على الطرق الرئيسية؛ ما أسفر عن إغلاق تام للعديد من الشرايين المرورية، بالتزامن مع فيضانات عارمة غمرت أجزاء واسعة من الجزيرة التي يبلغ عدد سكانها نحو 200 ألف نسمة.
وفي سياق الإجراءات الاحترازية، أعلنت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية الوطنية حالة الطوارئ القصوى لمواجهة السيول المفاجئة والخطيرة، بعد تدهور الأوضاع المناخية بشكل حاد في وقت متأخر من مساء أمس (السبت).

Severe Flooding
Media reports mentioned that the strength of the winds led to uprooted trees falling onto main roads, resulting in a complete closure of many traffic arteries, coinciding with severe flooding that inundated large parts of the island, which has a population of about 200,000 residents.
In the context of precautionary measures, the National Weather Service declared a maximum state of emergency to address the sudden and dangerous floods, following a sharp deterioration in weather conditions late last night (Saturday).
