ارتفعت حصيلة الوفيات جراء الفيضانات التي تشهدها ولاية آسام شمال شرقي الهند إلى 94 حالة وفاة، فيما لا يزال 5 أشخاص في عداد المفقودين.
وتسببت موجة الفيضانات العنيفة الناجمة عن الأمطار الموسمية في أضرار بالغة وأزمة إنسانية واسعة طالت أكثر من 1.1 مليون شخص يتوزعون على 25 مقاطعة، ودُمر أكثر من 17500 منزل بالكامل أو بشكل جزئي، بجانب انهيار 7 سدود وتضرر عدة جسور، وغمرت المياه نحو 17 ألف هكتار من الأراضي الزراعية.
وتعد أكثر المناطق تضرراً منطقة سيفاساغار، إذ سجلت وحدها نحو نصف إجمالي الوفيات.
وما زالت فرق إدارة الكوارث الوطنية والمحلية (NDRF وSDRF) تواصل عمليات الإجلاء وتقديم المساعدات الإنسانية والطبية العاجلة في المناطق المنكوبة، وسط تحذيرات الأرصاد الجوية من احتمال هطول أمطار إضافية قد تفاقم الوضع.
The death toll from the floods in Assam, northeastern India, has risen to 94, while 5 people are still missing.
The violent wave of flooding caused by the monsoon rains has resulted in severe damage and a widespread humanitarian crisis affecting more than 1.1 million people across 25 districts. More than 17,500 homes have been completely or partially destroyed, alongside the collapse of 7 dams and damage to several bridges, with approximately 17,000 hectares of agricultural land submerged.
The most affected area is Sivasagar, which alone has recorded nearly half of the total deaths.
National and local disaster management teams (NDRF and SDRF) are continuing evacuation operations and providing urgent humanitarian and medical assistance in the affected areas, amid meteorological warnings of possible additional rainfall that could worsen the situation.
