ضرب جفاف حاد سبع مناطق في إنجلترا، إثر الانخفاض القياسي في معدلات هطول الأمطار والارتفاع الحاد في درجات الحرارة. وأوضحت وكالة البيئة البريطانية أن حالة الجفاف شملت نحو نصف أنحاء البلاد، ما أدى إلى تراجع منسوب الأنهار، وزيادة مخاطر حرائق الغابات، وفرض قيود على استخدام المياه، محذرة من أن استمرار الجفاف للعام الثاني على التوالي خلال فصل الصيف ستكون له آثار واسعة على البيئة والحياة الفطرية والاقتصاد.
A severe drought has struck seven regions in England, following a record drop in rainfall and a sharp rise in temperatures. The British Environment Agency stated that the drought has affected nearly half of the country, leading to a decrease in river levels, an increase in the risk of wildfires, and the imposition of water usage restrictions, warning that the continuation of drought for the second consecutive year during the summer will have wide-ranging effects on the environment, wildlife, and the economy.
