تحولت عملية جراحية كان يفترض أن تنهي معاناة مريضة مصرية إلى واقعة أثارت اتهامات بالإهمال الطبي، بعدما اكتشفت أسرتها وجود جسم غريب داخل تجويف بطنها، تبيّن لاحقًا أنه منشفة طبية تُركت أثناء إجراء الجراحة، وفقًا لما ورد في بلاغ رسمي قدمته الأسرة.
وتباشر النيابة العامة في القاهرة تحقيقات موسعة في الواقعة، بعد اتهام طبيب وإدارة أحد المستشفيات الحكومية بالتسبب في تدهور الحالة الصحية للمريضة، البالغة من العمر 36 عامًا، عقب خضوعها لعملية جراحية داخل المستشفى.
وبحسب البلاغ، بدأت تفاصيل الواقعة بعد ظهور مضاعفات صحية حادة على المريضة عقب العملية، ما استدعى نقلها إلى مستشفى آخر لإجراء الفحوصات اللازمة. وأظهرت الأشعة وجود جسم غريب داخل منطقة البطن، قبل أن تكشف الإجراءات الطبية أنه منشفة جراحية بقيت داخل جسدها خلال التدخل السابق.
وأوضح زوج المريضة أنه أعادها إلى المستشفى الذي أجريت فيه العملية لإزالة الجسم الغريب واستكمال العلاج، مؤكدًا تقدمه ببلاغ رسمي للمطالبة بالتحقيق ومحاسبة المسؤولين عن الواقعة، وتحميل الفريق الطبي وإدارة المستشفى مسؤولية ما تعرضت له زوجته.
وحررت الأجهزة الأمنية محضرًا بالحادثة، أرفق بالتقارير الطبية الأولية، قبل إحالته إلى النيابة العامة التي بدأت اتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة.
وطلبت النيابة ملف المريضة الطبي كاملًا من المستشفى، كما قررت استدعاء الفريق الطبي الذي شارك في العملية للاستماع إلى أقواله، إلى جانب تشكيل لجنة طبية متخصصة لفحص الحالة وتحديد مدى وجود خطأ أو إهمال، تمهيدًا لاتخاذ ما يلزم في ضوء نتائج التحقيقات.
A surgical procedure that was supposed to end the suffering of an Egyptian patient turned into an incident that raised accusations of medical negligence, after her family discovered a foreign object inside her abdominal cavity, which later turned out to be a medical towel left during the surgery, according to an official complaint submitted by the family.
The Public Prosecution in Cairo is conducting extensive investigations into the incident, after accusing a doctor and the management of a government hospital of causing the deterioration of the patient's health, who is 36 years old, following her surgery at the hospital.
According to the complaint, the details of the incident began after the patient experienced severe health complications following the surgery, which necessitated her transfer to another hospital for necessary examinations. X-rays revealed the presence of a foreign object in the abdominal area, before medical procedures revealed that it was a surgical towel that had remained inside her body during the previous intervention.
The patient's husband explained that he returned her to the hospital where the surgery was performed to remove the foreign object and continue treatment, confirming that he filed an official complaint demanding an investigation and accountability for those responsible for the incident, holding the medical team and the hospital management responsible for what his wife had endured.
Security authorities filed a report on the incident, which was attached to the initial medical reports, before referring it to the Public Prosecution, which began taking the necessary legal actions.
The Public Prosecution requested the complete medical file of the patient from the hospital, and decided to summon the medical team that participated in the surgery to hear their statements, in addition to forming a specialized medical committee to examine the case and determine the extent of any error or negligence, in preparation for taking necessary actions based on the investigation results.
