ألقت الشرطة التايلندية القبض على شابة بريطانية تبلغ من العمر 21 عامًا، للاشتباه في تورطها بقتل صديقها البريطاني داخل منزل فاخر في مدينة باتايا، بعد العثور عليه مصابًا بعدة طعنات، وفقًا لما أوردته وسائل إعلام محلية.
وبحسب صحيفة Bangkok Post، عثرت الشرطة صباح الخميس على جثة رجل بريطاني يبلغ من العمر 34 عامًا، كان يدير مزرعة لزراعة القنب، داخل منزل مستأجر فاخر في منطقة باتايا الساحلية، التي تبعد نحو ساعتين عن العاصمة بانكوك وتشتهر بالحياة الليلية والجاليات الأجنبية.
العثور على الجثة داخل الحمام
وأوضحت الصحيفة أن رجال الشرطة وجدوا الضحية ملقى داخل حمام متصل بغرفة نوم، وقد تعرض لعدة طعنات، فيما رجحت التحقيقات الأولية أنه فارق الحياة قبل نحو ست ساعات من وصول الشرطة.
وعثرت السلطات على صديقته، وهي بريطانية تبلغ من العمر 21 عامًا، جالسة بالقرب من الجثة، كما ضبطت سكينًا كبيرًا يشبه الساطور يبلغ طوله نحو 50 سنتيمترًا، وقد جرى تنظيفه داخل حوض الغسيل.
تناقضات في الرواية
وأفادت التقارير بأن الشابة زعمت في البداية أن صديقها ألحق الأذى بنفسه، إلا أن المحققين اكتشفوا تناقضات في أقوالها.
كما كشفت المعاينة عن آثار دماء منتشرة في أنحاء المنزل، وعلامات تشير إلى وقوع شجار، إضافة إلى مؤشرات تفيد بأن جثة الضحية نُقلت من مكانها بعد وقوع الحادث.
وأظهرت لقطات بثتها قناة Pattaya Cable TV رجال الشرطة أثناء تفتيش المنزل، بينما ظهرت المشتبه بها جالسة على أريكة داخل المنزل قبل أن تُستجوب خارج العقار.
دعم قنصلي بريطاني
وأكد متحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية البريطانية أن السلطات تقدم الدعم لأسرتي مواطنين بريطانيين في تايلند، مشيرًا إلى أن الوزارة على تواصل مع السلطات المحلية بشأن القضية.
ولا تزال الشرطة التايلندية تواصل تحقيقاتها لكشف ملابسات الحادث وتحديد الدافع وراء الجريمة.
The Thai police arrested a 21-year-old British woman on suspicion of being involved in the murder of her British boyfriend inside a luxury home in Pattaya, after he was found with multiple stab wounds, according to local media reports.
According to the Bangkok Post, police discovered the body of a 34-year-old British man, who was running a cannabis farm, inside a rented luxury home in the coastal area of Pattaya, which is about two hours from the capital Bangkok and is known for its nightlife and foreign communities.
Body Found in the Bathroom
The newspaper explained that police found the victim lying in a bathroom connected to a bedroom, having suffered multiple stab wounds, while initial investigations suggested he had died about six hours before the police arrived.
Authorities found his girlfriend, a 21-year-old British woman, sitting near the body, and they seized a large knife resembling a cleaver, approximately 50 centimeters long, which had been cleaned in the sink.
Contradictions in the Account
Reports indicated that the young woman initially claimed her boyfriend had harmed himself, but investigators discovered contradictions in her statements.
The examination also revealed traces of blood scattered throughout the house, signs indicating a struggle, as well as evidence suggesting that the victim's body had been moved after the incident.
Footage broadcast by Pattaya Cable TV showed police officers searching the house, while the suspect was seen sitting on a couch inside the home before being questioned outside the property.
British Consular Support
A spokesperson for the British Foreign Office confirmed that authorities are providing support to the families of the two British citizens in Thailand, noting that the ministry is in contact with local authorities regarding the case.
The Thai police are still continuing their investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident and determine the motive behind the crime.
