شهدت مدينة لاهور (الثلاثاء)، فاجعة أودت بحياة 14 طفلاً تتراوح أعمارهم بين 4 و16 عاماً، بعد انهيار سقف مركز تعليمي للدروس الخصوصية في منطقة كاهنا بالمدينة.
وأفادت الشرطة الباكستانية وفرق الإنقاذ بأن السقف انهار فجأة أثناء تواجد عشرات الأطفال داخل المركز لتلقي الدروس، مما أدى إلى احتجازهم تحت الأنقاض، كما أسفر الحادث عن إصابة عدد آخر من الأطفال، بعضهم في حالة حرجة، ما يثير مخاوف من ارتفاع حصيلة الضحايا.
وأوضحت وسائل إعلام باكستانية أن أعمال بناء كانت جارية على السقف عندما انهار المبنى، وقد ألقت الشرطة القبض على خمسة أشخاص للاشتباه في إهمالهم، من بينهم مالكو المبنى.
وكان نحو 35 طفلاً، تتراوح أعمارهم بين 4 و16 عاماً، داخل المركز التعليمي وقت انهيار السقف.
وانتشلت فرق الإنقاذ 20 طفلاً مصاباً ومعلماً واحداً من تحت الأنقاض. ولا تزال عمليات البحث والإنقاذ جارية.
تأتي هذه الفاجعة ضمن سلسلة حوادث انهيار المباني في باكستان، التي غالباً ما ترجع إلى ضعف معايير السلامة الهندسية، استخدام مواد بناء رديئة، أو إجراء أعمال بناء دون تراخيص أو إشراف فني. وتزداد خطورة هذه الحوادث في المناطق السكنية والمراكز التعليمية الخاصة التي تفتقر إلى الرقابة الصارمة.
وتكررت مثل هذه المآسي في باكستان خلال السنوات الماضية، خاصة في إقليم البنجاب، مما يثير تساؤلات متكررة حول سلامة المباني العامة والخاصة، ويُسلط الضوء على الحاجة الملحة لتعزيز قوانين البناء وتطبيق معايير السلامة بشكل أكثر صرامة، خاصة في المؤسسات التي تستقبل أطفالاً.
The city of Lahore witnessed a tragedy on Tuesday that claimed the lives of 14 children aged between 4 and 16 years, after the roof of a tutoring center collapsed in the Kahna area of the city.
Pakistani police and rescue teams reported that the roof suddenly collapsed while dozens of children were inside the center attending lessons, trapping them under the rubble. The incident also resulted in injuries to several other children, some of whom are in critical condition, raising fears of an increased death toll.
Pakistani media clarified that construction work was ongoing on the roof when the building collapsed, and the police have arrested five individuals on suspicion of negligence, including the building's owners.
About 35 children, aged between 4 and 16 years, were inside the educational center at the time of the roof collapse.
Rescue teams have pulled out 20 injured children and one teacher from under the rubble. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
This tragedy is part of a series of building collapse incidents in Pakistan, which are often attributed to poor engineering safety standards, the use of substandard construction materials, or carrying out construction work without permits or technical supervision. The risks of such incidents are heightened in residential areas and private educational centers that lack stringent oversight.
