لم يكن يتوقع أن تتحول محاولة تهدئة شجار عابر إلى نهاية مأساوية، حين دفع رجل أربعيني حياته ثمناً لتدخله في فض خلاف نشب أمام أحد المعارض بمحافظة القليوبية، في واقعة صادمة هزّت الشارع المصري.
وتعود تفاصيل الواقعة إلى نشوب خلاف بين عدد من الشباب أمام معرض موبيليات مملوك للمجني عليه، حيث حاول التدخل لاحتواء الموقف وتهدئة الأجواء، إلا أن المتهم رفض تدخله ووقع بينهما شجار لفظي تطور إلى تهديد مباشر.
وبعد دقائق، عاد المتهم حاملاً مادة قابلة للاشتعال، وسكبها على المجني عليه وعدد من أفراد أسرته الذين كانوا برفقته، قبل أن يشعل النيران ويلوذ بالفرار وسط حالة من الذعر بين المارة.
ونُقل الضحية إلى المستشفى في حالة حرجة نتيجة إصابته بحروق بالغة، غير أنه فارق الحياة لاحقاً متأثراً بإصاباته التي طالت معظم جسده.
من جانبها، باشرت الأجهزة الأمنية التحقيقات، وتمكنت من تحديد هوية المتهم وضبطه، وأقر بارتكاب الواقعة على خلفية خلاف نشب بسبب تدخل المجني عليه في المشاجرة، فيما قررت جهات التحقيق حبسه على ذمة القضية.
No one expected that an attempt to calm a fleeting argument would turn into a tragic end, when a man in his forties paid with his life for intervening in a dispute that erupted in front of an exhibition in Qalyubia Governorate, in a shocking incident that shook Egyptian society.
The details of the incident date back to a disagreement among a group of young people in front of a furniture exhibition owned by the victim, where he tried to intervene to contain the situation and calm the atmosphere. However, the accused rejected his intervention, and a verbal altercation ensued that escalated into direct threats.
Minutes later, the accused returned carrying a flammable substance, which he poured on the victim and several of his family members who were with him, before igniting the flames and fleeing amidst panic among passersby.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition due to severe burns, but he later succumbed to his injuries, which affected most of his body.
For its part, the security authorities began investigations, managed to identify the accused, and arrested him. He confessed to committing the act following a dispute that arose due to the victim's intervention in the fight, while the investigating authorities decided to detain him pending the case.
