أصدرت إدارة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية، تحذيراً عاجلاً للمستهلكين والتجار وموزعي المنتجات، داعية إلى عدم تناول أو بيع أو توزيع مكملي طاقة شهيرين هما «Addall XR Shot» و«Addall XL» بعد أن كشفت فحوصات مخبرية احتوائهما على مكونات غير قانونية وغير معلنة تشكل خطراً جدياً على القلب والجهاز العصبي.
وقالت إدارة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية في بيانها إن المنتجين، اللذين يُسوّقان كمكملات لتعزيز الطاقة والتركيز، يحتويان على مواد محظورة في المكملات الغذائية، حيث يوزع المنتجان من قبل شركة في كارلسباد بولاية كاليفورنيا، ويُباعان على نطاق واسع في محطات الوقود ومتاجر الخدمة ومنصات التجارة الإلكترونية.
وأوضحت الفحوصات المخبرية التي أجرتها الإدارة أن النوع الأول يحتوي على مادة فينيبوت غير المسموح بها في المكملات الغذائية، بالإضافة إلى مادة 1,4-DMAA غير المعلنة، أما النوع الثاني يحتوي على مادة DMHA (2-amino-6-methylheptane) غير المسموح بها، بالإضافة إلى 1,4-DMAA غير المعلنة.
المخاطر الصحية المحتملة
وأوضحت السلطات الأمريكية أنه تلك المكملات بها محفزات اصطناعية قوية ترفع ضغط الدم بشكل حاد، مما قد يؤدي إلى ضيق التنفس، ضيق الصدر، أو حتى نوبة قلبية، كما مادة فينيبوت فهي تؤثر على الجهاز العصبي المركزي، وقد تسبب آثاراً عصبية مثل الإدمان، أعراض الانسحاب، التنويم، فقدان الوعي، وحتى مضاعفات خطيرة عند دمجها مع أدوية أخرى أو مواد أخرى.
وتُعد مكملات الطاقة والتركيز من أكثر المنتجات رواجاً في الأسواق الأمريكية، خصوصا بين الطلاب والرياضيين والعاملين بنظام الورديات، ومع ذلك، شهدت السنوات الماضية سلسلة من التحذيرات والسحوبات من قبل إدارة الغذاء والدواء بسبب إضافة مواد محظورة.
وتعتبر هذه المواد «إضافات غذائية غير آمنة» أو «مكونات دوائية غير معلنة»، ولا تخضع المكملات الغذائية للموافقة المسبقة من إدارة الغذاء والدواء قبل التسويق، مما يجعل الرقابة اللاحقة أمراً حاسماً.
وتحذر الإدارة بانتظام من أن المنتجات المباعة في محطات الوقود غالباً ما تكون أقل رقابة، وقد تحتوي على مواد محفزة اصطناعية تشبه تأثير المنشطات، وينصح الخبراء دائماً باستشارة الطبيب قبل تناول أي مكمل، خصوصا لمن لديهم مشاكل قلبية أو عصبية سابقة.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an urgent warning to consumers, traders, and product distributors, urging them not to consume, sell, or distribute two popular energy supplements, "Addall XR Shot" and "Addall XL," after laboratory tests revealed that they contain illegal and undeclared ingredients that pose a serious risk to the heart and nervous system.
The FDA stated in its announcement that the two products, marketed as supplements to enhance energy and focus, contain banned substances in dietary supplements. The products are distributed by a company in Carlsbad, California, and are widely sold at gas stations, convenience stores, and e-commerce platforms.
The laboratory tests conducted by the FDA indicated that the first type contains the substance phenibut, which is not allowed in dietary supplements, in addition to the undeclared substance 1,4-DMAA. The second type contains the prohibited substance DMHA (2-amino-6-methylheptane), along with the undeclared 1,4-DMAA.
Potential Health Risks
The U.S. authorities clarified that these supplements contain strong synthetic stimulants that sharply raise blood pressure, which may lead to shortness of breath, chest tightness, or even a heart attack. Additionally, phenibut affects the central nervous system and may cause neurological effects such as addiction, withdrawal symptoms, sedation, loss of consciousness, and even serious complications when combined with other medications or substances.
Energy and focus supplements are among the most popular products in the U.S. markets, especially among students, athletes, and shift workers. However, in recent years, there has been a series of warnings and recalls by the FDA due to the addition of banned substances.
These substances are considered "unsafe food additives" or "undeclared pharmaceutical ingredients," and dietary supplements do not require prior approval from the FDA before marketing, making post-market surveillance critical.
The FDA regularly warns that products sold at gas stations are often less regulated and may contain synthetic stimulants that mimic the effects of anabolic steroids. Experts always advise consulting a doctor before taking any supplement, especially for those with previous heart or neurological issues.
