في مأساة تقشعرّ لها الأبدان هزّت قضاء الرمادي في محافظة الأنبار العراقية، أقدم عراقي على قتل ابنته الصغيرة ماريا محمد برع، البالغة من العمر سبع سنوات، إثر خلاف عائلي مع والدتها.
وأكدت التقارير الأولية أن الجريمة وقعت بعد زيارة الطفلة لوالدتها المنفصلة عنه، وهو ما دفع الأب إلى استخدام القوة المفرطة وتعذيب ابنته داخل المنزل، قبل أن ينهال عليها بأداة حادة تاركًا آثار طعن على جسدها، لتفارق الحياة بعد إصابات مروعة أُدخلت على إثرها دائرة الطب العدلي.
بدورها، جاءت ردة فعل السلطات الأمنية العراقية سريعة، وألقت القبض على الجاني فور وقوع الجريمة، وفتحت تحقيقًا رسميًا لتحديد الملابسات بدقة، وسط تحريات تشير إلى احتمال تأثر الأب بمواد مخدرة أثناء ارتكاب الجريمة.
وأثارت الحادثة صدمة واسعة في العراق، حيث صنفت ضمن الجرائم العائلية الشديدة، مؤكدين على أهمية حماية الأطفال من النزاعات الأسرية وأي تهديد محتمل.

Initial reports confirmed that the crime occurred after the child visited her estranged mother, which prompted the father to use excessive force and torture his daughter inside the home, before attacking her with a sharp object, leaving stab wounds on her body. She succumbed to horrific injuries and was subsequently taken to the forensic medicine department.
In response, Iraqi security authorities acted swiftly, arresting the perpetrator immediately after the crime and launching an official investigation to accurately determine the circumstances, amid investigations suggesting that the father may have been under the influence of narcotics at the time of the crime.
The incident has sparked widespread shock in Iraq, being classified among severe family crimes, with emphasis on the importance of protecting children from domestic disputes and any potential threats.
The Iraqi judiciary is now reviewing the case, amid public and official scrutiny, to bring the father to justice and ensure accountability, with calls for the maximum penalties.
