في حدث هو الأول من نوعه، نجت طائرة من كارثة محتملة بعد أن تولّى نظام الهبوط الآلي قيادتها بالكامل أثناء حالة طوارئ في الجو. وخرج شخصان بسلام من طائرة بيتشكرافت سوبر كينغ إير 200، بعد أن توقفت بأمان على مدرج مطار روكي ماونتن متروبوليتان قرب دنفر بولاية كولورادو، وسط تغطية مصورة من فرق الإنقاذ أظهرت لحظات الهبوط.
وتعمل الطائرة بمحركين، وتم التحكم في هبوطها عبر نظام الهبوط الآلي المثبت حالياً على نحو 1700 طائرة حول العالم.
وقالت الشركة في بيان: «هذه كانت المرة الأولى التي يُستخدم فيها نظام الهبوط الآلي بالكامل في مواجهة حالة طوارئ حقيقية، ما يمثل خطوة نوعية في تاريخ الطيران والسلامة الجوية.».
وأفادت الشركة المشغلة للطائرة، أن نظام الهبوط الآلي تم تفعيله تلقائيا.
وقال الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة كريس تاونزلي: «تعرضت الطائرة لانخفاض مفاجئ وسريع في ضغط المقصورة فارتدى الطياران أقنعة الأكسجين. عمل نظام الهبوط الآلي تلقائيا كما هو مصمم له تماما عندما تجاوز ضغط المقصورة المستويات الآمنة المحددة، واتخذ الطياران قرارا بإبقائه مفعلا».
ويعمل نظام الطيار الآلي على متن الطائرة على توجيهها إلى مطار مناسب، ويصدر الإعلانات الضرورية لمراقبي الحركة الجوية، وفقا لشبكة «سي إن إن» الإخبارية الأمريكية.
In a first-of-its-kind event, a plane narrowly escaped a potential disaster after the autopilot system took full control during an in-flight emergency. Two people emerged safely from a Beechcraft Super King Air 200, which landed safely on the runway of Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport near Denver, Colorado, amidst video coverage from rescue teams showing the moments of landing.
The aircraft is powered by two engines and its landing was controlled by the autopilot system currently installed on approximately 1,700 aircraft worldwide.
The company stated in a press release: "This was the first time the fully automated landing system was used in a real emergency, representing a significant milestone in aviation history and air safety."
The company operating the aircraft reported that the autopilot system was activated automatically.
CEO Chris Townsley said: "The aircraft experienced a sudden and rapid drop in cabin pressure, prompting the pilots to don oxygen masks. The autopilot system functioned automatically as designed when the cabin pressure exceeded the specified safe levels, and the pilots decided to keep it activated."
The autopilot system on board the aircraft directs it to a suitable airport and issues necessary announcements to air traffic controllers, according to the American news network "CNN."
