في سماء هادئة ظاهرياً فوق شرق إنجلترا، كادت ثوانٍ قليلة أن تتحول إلى كارثة جوية، بعدما وثّقت لقطات جوية حديثة اقتراباً خطيراً بين مروحية تابعة للشرطة البريطانية ومقاتلة أمريكية متطورة من طراز F-15 فوق قاعدة «راف ليكنهيث» في مقاطعة سوفولك البريطانية، في مشهد وصفه مراقبون بـ«الاستثنائي» وأعاد تسليط الضوء على مخاطر التنسيق الجوي فوق القواعد العسكرية الحساسة.
كشفت لقطات جوية جديدة عن لحظات «استثنائية»، حين كادت مروحية تابعة للشرطة البريطانية أن تصطدم بمقاتلة أمريكية.
وأظهرت التسجيلات التي أصدرتها «الخدمة الجوية للشرطة الوطنية» في بريطانيا (NPAS) أن الطائرة المقاتلة، التي تفوق سرعتها 1600 ميل في الساعة، كانت تحلق على مسافة قريبة جداً من المروحية، ووصلت المسافة الفاصلة بينهما في لحظة ما إلى أقل من 1900 قدم (حوالى 580 متراً).
وأشارت صحيفة «ديلي ميل» إلى أن الحادثة وقعت بينما كانت المروحية في مهمة أمنية للبحث عن طائرات مسيّرة (درونات) غامضة اخترقت أجواء القواعد الجوية.
ولفت تقرير لجنة التحقيق في الحوادث الجوية (Airprox Board) إلى وقوع «سوء تقدير»، إذ اعتقد طيار المروحية أن الأضواء الحمراء الوامضة التي رآها تعود للطائرات المسيّرة التي يطاردها، بينما كانت في الحقيقة أضواء المقاتلة الأمريكية.
كما سلط التحقيق الضوء على فجوة في التنسيق، إذ لم يتم إبلاغ طاقم المروحية بوجود مقاتلات F-15 في المنطقة، رغم أن طيار المقاتلة كان على علم بمكان المروحية.
وأوصى المحققون بضرورة تبادل المعلومات الملاحية بشكل أدق بين مراقبي الحركة الجوية والطيارين في مثل هذه الحالات.

New aerial footage revealed "extraordinary" moments when a British police helicopter nearly collided with an American fighter jet.
The recordings released by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) in the UK showed that the fighter jet, which exceeds speeds of 1600 miles per hour, was flying very close to the helicopter, with the distance between them at one point reaching less than 1900 feet (about 580 meters).
The Daily Mail reported that the incident occurred while the helicopter was on a security mission searching for mysterious drones that had breached the airspace of the air bases.
A report from the Airprox Board highlighted a "misjudgment," as the helicopter pilot believed that the flashing red lights he saw belonged to the drones he was chasing, while in reality, they were the lights of the American fighter jet.
The investigation also pointed out a gap in coordination, as the helicopter crew had not been informed of the presence of F-15 fighters in the area, even though the fighter pilot was aware of the helicopter's location.
Investigators recommended that navigational information be exchanged more accurately between air traffic controllers and pilots in such cases.
