أعلنت وكالة الإطفاء وإدارة الكوارث اليابانية، اليوم، أن 23 شخصاً أصيبوا، بينهم شخص إصابته خطيرة، جراء الزلزال الذي ضرب قبالة ساحل أوموري شمال شرق البلاد بقوة 7.6 درجة على مقياس ريختر، وتسبب في حدوث موجات مد عالية (تسونامي).
وأصدرت الهيئة إنذاراً بشأن موجات تسونامي محتملة تصل إلى 3 أمتار في بعض المناطق، في الوقت الذي حث كبير أمناء مجلس الوزراء الياباني مينورو كيهارا، السكان على التوجه فورا إلى أراضٍ مرتفعة أو اللجوء داخل المباني أو مراكز الإخلاء حتى يتم رفع الإنذار.
بدورها، قالت رئيسة الوزراء اليابانية ساناي تاكايشي، في تصريحات صحفية، إن الحكومة شكلت فرقة عمل طوارئ لتقييم مدى الضرر على وجه السرعة.
The Japanese Fire and Disaster Management Agency announced today that 23 people were injured, including one person with serious injuries, due to the earthquake that struck off the coast of Aomori in the northeast of the country with a magnitude of 7.6 on the Richter scale, causing high tsunami waves.
The agency issued a warning about potential tsunami waves reaching up to 3 meters in some areas, while Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara urged residents to immediately move to higher ground or seek shelter inside buildings or evacuation centers until the warning is lifted.
For her part, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takahashi stated in press remarks that the government has formed an emergency task force to quickly assess the extent of the damage.
