في لحظة تقلّبت فيها السماء على غير عادتها، تحوّلت رحلة عادية فوق الكاريبي إلى واحدة من أكثر اللحظات رعباً في حياة ركّاب طائرة «جت بلو». فبينما كانت الطائرة تشق طريقها بهدوء من كانكون نحو نيويورك، حدث ما لم يكن في الحسبان.. هبوط مفاجئ بسرعة خاطفة لمسافة 100 قدم خلال سبع ثوانٍ فقط، لتتعالى الصرخات وتعمّ الفوضى داخل المقصورة، ويسقط العشرات أرضاً بين إصابات وذعر.
لكن المفاجأة الكبرى لم تكن داخل الطائرة فحسب، بل في التفسير الغامض الذي طرحه الخبراء لاحقاً، حين أشاروا إلى احتمال تعرّضها لجسيمات فضائية عالية الطاقة عطّلت أنظمتها الإلكترونية للحظات، في حادثة نادرة لا تحدث إلا في ظروف استثنائية.
وبرغم الفوضى والهلع، نجح الطيار في كتابة نهاية سعيدة، مستعيداً السيطرة قبل أن يهبط اضطرارياً في مدينة تامبا، وسارعت فرق الإسعاف لإنقاذ الركّاب.
