وتأتي هذه الأرقام المهولة بعد أسبوع من الأمطار الغزيرة التي غمرت المنطقة، مما أدى إلى تدمير كلي أو جزئي لأكثر من 28 ألف منزل، وفقدان ملايين الرؤوس من الماشية، وغمر آلاف الهكتارات الزراعية.
وأغرقت الفيضانات، التي ضربت مقاطعات مثل داكلاك، وخان هوا، جيالاي، لام دونغ، ودا نانغ، أكثر من 235 ألف منزل، ودمرت نحو 950 منزلاً بالكامل، بينما يعاني أكثر من 28 ألف آخرين من أضرار جزئية شديدة.

وأفادت الوكالة بأن الخسائر الاقتصادية تجاوزت 9 تريليونات دونغ فيتنامي (ما يعادل 358 مليون دولار أمريكي)، مع غمر 80 ألف هكتار من المحاصيل الزراعية وموت 3.5 مليون رأس ماشية ودواجن، مما يهدد أمن الغذاء في المنطقة الزراعية الرئيسية.
ووصف شهود عيان المشهد لوسائل إعلام فيتنامية ب«الكابوس»، إذ اضطر آلاف السكان إلى الصعود إلى أسطح منازلهم لساعات طويلة أثناء الغمر، وسط انقطاع كهرباء عن نصف مليون منزل وشركة.
وفي مدينة نها ترانغ بمقاطعة خان هوا، نشر أحد السكان صوراً على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي يظهر فيها عائلته جالسة على سطح منزل مغمور، قائلاً: «جلسنا على السطح منذ منتصف الليل، الأطفال والكبار، ننتظر النجدة تحت المطر الذي لا يتوقف»، كما انهار جسر معلق على نهر دا نهيم في لام دونغ، وغُلقت طرق رئيسية بسبب الانهيارات الأرضية، مما عزل القرى عن العالم الخارجي.

صندوق إغاثة طارئ
وفي رد سريع، أقرت الحكومة الفيتنامية من خلال صندوق إغاثة طارئ بقيمة 450 مليار دونغ (17.93 مليون دولار) لدعم أربع مدن ومقاطعات متضررة رئيسية: هوي، دا نانغ، كوانغ تري، وكوانغ نغاي.
وأكدت وزارة الزراعة والبيئة أن فرق الإنقاذ، بدعم من الجيش، أجلت نحو 62 ألف شخص، وتستمر في البحث عن المفقودين باستخدام قوارب وطائرات هليكوبتر، ومع توقعات بمزيد من الأمطار الغزيرة في الأيام القادمة، حذرت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية من مخاطر إضافية للفيضانات والانهيارات.

In what is considered the worst natural disaster this year, the Vietnamese Disaster Management and Dam Safety Agency announced today (Saturday) that the death toll from floods and landslides in the central region has risen to 55, with 13 people still missing, amid intensive rescue efforts to find survivors.

These staggering figures come after a week of heavy rainfall that inundated the area, leading to the complete or partial destruction of more than 28,000 homes, the loss of millions of livestock, and the flooding of thousands of hectares of agricultural land.
The floods, which hit provinces such as Dak Lak, Khan Hoa, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, and Da Nang, submerged more than 235,000 homes, completely destroyed about 950 houses, while more than 28,000 others suffered severe partial damage.
The agency reported that economic losses have exceeded 9 trillion Vietnamese Dong (equivalent to 358 million USD), with 80,000 hectares of crops submerged and 3.5 million livestock and poultry dead, threatening food security in the main agricultural region.
Eyewitnesses described the scene to Vietnamese media as a "nightmare," as thousands of residents were forced to climb onto the roofs of their homes for long hours during the flooding, amid power outages affecting half a million homes and businesses.
In Nha Trang city in Khan Hoa province, one resident posted pictures on social media showing his family sitting on the roof of their submerged house, saying: "We have been sitting on the roof since midnight, children and adults, waiting for rescue under the unending rain." A suspension bridge over the Da Nhim River in Lam Dong collapsed, and major roads were closed due to landslides, isolating villages from the outside world.

Emergency Relief Fund
In a swift response, the Vietnamese government approved an emergency relief fund of 450 billion Dong (17.93 million USD) to support four major affected cities and provinces: Hue, Da Nang, Quang Tri, and Quang Ngai.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment confirmed that rescue teams, supported by the military, have evacuated about 62,000 people and continue to search for the missing using boats and helicopters. With forecasts of more heavy rain in the coming days, the meteorological agency warned of additional risks of flooding and landslides.
