نفذت سلطات ولاية فلوريدا مساء أمس (الخميس) حكم الإعدام بحق ريتشارد باري راندولف، المدان باغتصاب مديرته السابقة وضربها حتى الموت داخل متجر، في الإعدام الـ 17 بالولاية هذا العام.
وأعلنت وفاة راندولف البالغ من العمر 63 عامًا في الساعة السادسة و12 دقيقة مساءً بعد تلقيه حقنة مميتة تحتوي على ثلاثة عقاقير في سجن ستاركي. وبدأت عملية الإعدام في الموعد المحدد دون أن يدلي راندولف بأي كلمات أخيرة.
وكانت المحكمة قد أصدرت حكم الإعدام على راندولف بعد إدانته بالقتل والسطو المسلح والاعتداء الجنسي والسرقة، في جريمة أثارت صدمة المجتمع المحلي. وتعكس هذه الخطوة استمرار ولاية فلوريدا في تطبيق عقوبة الإعدام ضمن سياستها في تبني أقصى العقوبات على الجرائم البشعة.
The authorities in Florida executed Richard Barry Randolph last night (Thursday), who was convicted of raping his former manager and beating her to death inside a store, marking the 17th execution in the state this year.
Randolph, 63 years old, was pronounced dead at 6:12 PM after receiving a lethal injection containing three drugs at Starkey prison. The execution process began as scheduled without Randolph making any final statements.
The court had issued the death penalty for Randolph after he was convicted of murder, armed robbery, sexual assault, and theft, in a crime that shocked the local community. This move reflects Florida's continued application of the death penalty as part of its policy to adopt the harshest punishments for heinous crimes.
