في جرأة أشبه بمشاهد أفلام السرقة المحترفة، أقدم لصوص في شمال فرنسا على تنفيذ عملية خاطفة استولوا خلالها على مجوهرات تُقدّر قيمتها بنحو 1.2 مليون دولار، في واقعة أربكت الشرطة وفتحت باب الأسئلة حول كيفية تمكنهم من تنفيذ هذه الضربة الدقيقة والفرار دون أثر يُذكر.
وأفادت التقارير بأنّ اللصوص اقتحموا متجرا للمجوهرات في وسط مدينة روبي بالقرب من مدينة ليل الأربعاء، حيث احتجزوا الصائغ وزوجته لفترة وجيزة قبل أن يلوذوا بالفرار مع المجوهرات الثمينة.
وقالت الشرطة إنّ قيمة المجوهرات تراوح بين 500 ألف ومليون يورو (580 ألفاً و1.2 مليون دولار).
وباشرت الشرطة تحقيقاً في جرائم خطف وجريمة منظمة وابتزاز مسلّح.
وفي حادث منفصل الأربعاء، فجّر عدد من الأشخاص خزنة أموال تابعة لمكتب البريد الرئيسي في روبي وفرّوا بحقيبة كانت داخلها.
واتضح لاحقاً أنّ الحقيبة كانت تحتوي على أكياس فارغة، بينما تمّ توقيف ستة أشخاص مساء اليوم المذكور.
وتأتي عمليتا السرقة بعدما اقتحمت عصابة متحف اللوفر في باريس في وضح النهار الشهر الماضي، وسرقت مجوهرات تقدّر قيمتها بنحو 102 مليون دولار.
In a bold move reminiscent of scenes from professional heist movies, thieves in northern France executed a swift operation during which they seized jewelry valued at approximately $1.2 million, an incident that perplexed the police and raised questions about how they managed to carry out this precise strike and escape without a trace.
Reports indicated that the thieves broke into a jewelry store in downtown Roubaix, near Lille, on Wednesday, where they briefly held the jeweler and his wife before fleeing with the valuable jewelry.
The police stated that the value of the jewelry ranged between 500,000 and 1 million euros ($580,000 to $1.2 million).
The police have launched an investigation into kidnapping, organized crime, and armed extortion.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, several individuals blew up a cash safe belonging to the main post office in Roubaix and escaped with a bag that was inside it.
It later turned out that the bag contained empty sacks, while six people were arrested that evening.
These two heists come after a gang stormed the Louvre Museum in Paris in broad daylight last month, stealing jewelry valued at around $102 million.
