ونقلت «سي بي إس نيوز» عن البلدية قولها إن الرجل أبلغ الجهات المعنية فور اكتشافه الكنز في مايو الماضي، وبعد التحقُق من أن الموقع لا يحمل طابعا أثريا، سُمِح له بالاحتفاظ بالمقتنيات الثمينة.
وأوضحت صحيفة «بروغري» أن الرجل عثر على 5 سبائك ذهبية وعدد كبير من العملات داخل أكياس بلاستيكية مدفونة في التربة. وأظهرت التحقيقات أن الذهب صُهِر بطريقة قانونية في مصفاة قريبة قبل نحو عقدين من الزمن، وأن أرقام السبائك التسلسلية أكدت أنه لم يكن مسروقا.

“CBS News” reported that the municipality stated the man notified the relevant authorities immediately upon discovering the treasure last May. After verifying that the site did not have archaeological significance, he was allowed to keep the valuable items.
The newspaper “Le Progrès” explained that the man found 5 gold bars and a large number of coins inside plastic bags buried in the soil. Investigations showed that the gold had been legally melted down at a nearby refinery about two decades ago, and the serial numbers on the bars confirmed that it had not been stolen.
