في جريمة هزّت العراق وأعادت إلى الواجهة قضية الثأر والعنف العائلي، أقدم عدد من أبناء العمومة على قتل ابن عمّهم داخل غرفة الطوارئ في أحد المستشفيات، بعد دقائق فقط من نقله لتلقي العلاج إثر مشاجرة دامية نشبت بينهم.
ووفق مصادر محلية، اندلع الشجار في إحدى المدن العراقية بسبب خلافات عائلية قديمة متجددة، سرعان ما تطوّرت إلى مواجهة عنيفة استُخدمت فيها الأسلحة البيضاء والعصيّ، ما أدى إلى إصابة أحد الشبان بجروح خطيرة.
لكنّ الجناة لم يكتفوا بذلك، إذ تتبعوه إلى المستشفى واقتحموا غرفة الإسعاف، قبل أن يفتحوا النار عليه داخلها وسط ذهول الطاقم الطبي والمرضى، في مشهد وُصف بأنه «انهيار أخلاقي وعديم الرحمة».
غضب شعبي وتحقيق أمني
أثارت الجريمة موجة غضب عارمة على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث عبّر ناشطون عن صدمتهم من تصاعد ثقافة الثأر في المجتمع العراقي، محذّرين من تحوّلها إلى ظاهرة تتجاوز سلطة القانون.
من جهتها، أعلنت الجهات الأمنية العراقية فتح تحقيق موسّع في الحادثة، وتمكنت من تحديد هوية الجناة عبر كاميرات المراقبة داخل المستشفى، حيث جرى توقيف عدد منهم فيما لا يزال آخرون فارّين من العدالة.
وطالب ناشطون ومواطنون الحكومة العراقية بفرض عقوبات رادعة على مرتكبي جرائم الثأر التي تتكرر في بعض المحافظات، معتبرين أن ما حدث داخل المستشفى يمثل «تجسيداً مرعباً لانهيار القيم والردع المجتمعي»، ودليلاً على اتساع رقعة العنف العشائري في البلاد.
In a crime that shook Iraq and brought back to the forefront the issue of revenge and familial violence, a number of cousins killed their cousin inside the emergency room of a hospital, just minutes after he was brought in for treatment following a bloody brawl that broke out among them.
According to local sources, the fight erupted in one of the Iraqi cities due to long-standing family disputes that quickly escalated into a violent confrontation involving knives and sticks, resulting in one of the young men sustaining serious injuries.
However, the perpetrators did not stop there; they followed him to the hospital and stormed the emergency room, before opening fire on him inside, amidst the shock of the medical staff and patients, in a scene described as a "moral collapse and mercilessness."
Public Outrage and Security Investigation
The crime sparked a wave of outrage on social media, where activists expressed their shock at the rising culture of revenge in Iraqi society, warning that it could turn into a phenomenon that surpasses the authority of the law.
For its part, the Iraqi security authorities announced the opening of an extensive investigation into the incident, and were able to identify the perpetrators through surveillance cameras inside the hospital, where several of them were arrested while others remain at large.
Activists and citizens called on the Iraqi government to impose strict penalties on those committing revenge crimes that recur in some provinces, considering that what happened inside the hospital represents a "terrifying embodiment of the collapse of values and societal deterrence," and evidence of the widening scope of tribal violence in the country.
