في حادثة غامضة أثارت الكثير من التساؤلات، عثرت الشرطة الأسترالية على جسم محترق في صحراء غرب البلاد، بعد سقوطه وسط الرمال دون أي دلائل توضح كيفية وصوله. حدثت الواقعة على بعد 30 كيلومترًا من بلدة نيو مان، إذ كشف موظفو موقع تعدين قريب أن الحطام استمر في الاشتعال ساعاتٍ طويلةً قبل تدخل السلطات.
وجرى فرض حظر مؤقت على المنطقة وتأمينها فورًا من قبل خدمات الطوارئ، في حين كشفت الفحوصات الأولية أن الجسم مصنوع من ألياف الكربون، ما يشير إلى كونه خزان ضغط مركب أو جزء من صاروخ فضائي، وفق ما ذكرت صحيفة «ديلي ميل».

وتشارك في التحقيقات جهات أمنية عدة، مع تأكيد الشرطة أن المنطقة باتت آمنة تماماً بعد تأمين الحطام. ويأتي هذا الحدث ضمن سلسلة مزاعم مشاهدات لحطام فضائي في أستراليا، إذ تذهب إلى سقوط أجسام مشابهة في 2023 على مسافة تزيد على 1,000 كيلومتر جنوب غرب نيو مان.
