شهدت مدينة سويندون البريطانية حادثة مروّعة عندما حاول رجل مقيم بطريقة غير شرعية اختطاف فتاة (17 عاماً) بينما كانت عائدة من عملها ليلاً. ووقع الهجوم نحو الساعة التاسعة والنصف مساءً، في لحظة صدمت المارة ودقت ناقوس الخطر بشأن سلامة النساء في الشوارع.
ووثقت كاميرات المراقبة اللحظات العصيبة التي هرع فيها المتهم نحو الفتاة عند إشارات المرور، وقام بسحبها من الخلف وجرّها بالقوة، لكن تدخّل ركاب حافلة كانوا في المكان أحبط المحاولة، بعدما نزلوا بسرعة من الحافلة لمساعدتها وإبعاد المهاجم.
وبعد فشل محاولته، حاول المتهم الاقتراب من امرأتين أخريين قبل أن يلوذ بالفرار. ولاحقه عدد من الشهود وهم يصورونه بهواتفهم، ما ساعد لاحقاً في تحديد هويته وإلقاء القبض عليه.
من قضية إلى أخرى
وكشفت التحقيقات أن الجاني من جنسية إفريقية، ودخل المملكة المتحدة بطريقة غير شرعية عام 2023. ورغم إدانته لاحقاً بمخالفة قوانين الدخول، فقد أُفرج عنه بعد قضاء سبعة أشهر في السجن.
وأقر المتهم أمام المحكمة بمحاولة الاختطاف، ومن المقرر النطق بالحكم في 12 ديسمبر القادم. وأكد الادعاء العام أن شجاعة المارة كانت عاملاً حاسماً في إنقاذ الفتاة ومنع كارثة أكبر.
بدوره، قال متحدث باسم وزارة الداخلية البريطانية لصحيفة ذا صن: «لن نتسامح مع الجرائم التي يرتكبها أجانب داخل بلادنا، وسنعمل على ترحيل من يهددون أمن المجتمع».
The British city of Swindon witnessed a horrifying incident when a man residing illegally attempted to abduct a 17-year-old girl as she was returning home from work at night. The attack occurred around 9:30 PM, shocking passersby and raising alarms about the safety of women on the streets.
Surveillance cameras captured the tense moments when the suspect rushed towards the girl at the traffic lights, pulling her from behind and dragging her forcefully. However, the intervention of bus passengers who were nearby thwarted the attempt, as they quickly got off the bus to help her and fend off the attacker.
After his failed attempt, the suspect tried to approach two other women before fleeing the scene. Several witnesses chased him while filming with their phones, which later helped identify him and led to his arrest.
From One Case to Another
Investigations revealed that the perpetrator is of African nationality and entered the United Kingdom illegally in 2023. Despite being later convicted of violating immigration laws, he was released after serving seven months in prison.
The suspect admitted in court to the attempted abduction, and sentencing is scheduled for December 12. The prosecution emphasized that the bravery of the bystanders was a crucial factor in saving the girl and preventing a larger disaster.
For his part, a spokesperson for the British Home Office told The Sun: "We will not tolerate crimes committed by foreigners within our country, and we will work to deport those who threaten the safety of our community."
