Apple has launched a revolutionary feature in the iOS 26 update that classifies incoming calls from unknown numbers, allowing "Siri" to automatically answer and ask the caller to explain the reason for the call, providing users with effective protection against annoying fraudulent calls.

How does the feature work?

When an unknown number calls, the phone does not ring; instead, the voice assistant automatically answers and starts a conversation with the caller, displaying the text written for the user to easily decide whether to accept or reject the call.

Google is not far behind

Google's Pixel phones have had a similar feature for years, which has recently been expanded to include more countries like Canada and Australia, in an important step to combat fraudulent calls globally.

Why does this technology excel?

Old methods of blocking numbers are no longer effective due to the spoofing techniques used by scammers, while this technology relies on direct verification of the caller, making it difficult to deceive the system.

Some challenges

Despite its effectiveness, the feature has annoyed some real users who felt disturbed by the automated response, but it is an option that can be activated or deactivated at the user's discretion.

Text message filter

In addition to calls, Apple and Google have also launched automated tools to filter fraudulent text messages, redirecting them to a "Spam" folder to keep users safe.
