Amid this crowd, teenagers like 16-year-old "Li Lin Sheng" appear. He stands at the entrance of the tower, raises his hand, and shouts: "Delivery alternative." He receives the food from the drivers, climbs the stairs, or waits for the elevator, delivers the order, and returns for another round. This continues all day for less than 30 cents per order.

Shadow Economy

Li is not alone; dozens of "last-mile runners" spread out daily in front of the tower. Some are retirees, while others are students or individuals looking for extra income. There are no contracts, no insurance, just supply and demand in the Shenzhen way, a city leading in economic experimentation.
