في تصريحات جديدة أدلى بها، اليوم (الإثنين)، جدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب تهديده بفرض رسوم جمركية بنسبة 100% على الأفلام التي تُنتج خارج الولايات المتحدة، مدعيا أن الصناعة السينمائية الأمريكية «سُرقت» من قبل دول أخرى.
سرقة صناعة السينما الأمريكية
وكتب ترمب في منشور على منصة «تروث سوشال» أن دولا أجنبية استولت على الأعمال التجارية من الولايات المتحدة «كما لو كانت تسرق الحلوى من طفل».
ووجه ترمب انتقادات حادة لحاكم ولاية كاليفورنيا غافن نيوسوم، واصفا إياه بـ«الضعيف وغير الكفء»، مشيرا إلى أن الولاية تأثرت بشدة بتراجع صناعة السينما.
رسوم جمركية 100% على الأفلام
وأضاف: «لحل هذه المشكلة المستمرة منذ زمن طويل، سأفرض رسوما جمركية بنسبة 100% على جميع الأفلام التي تُنتج خارج الولايات المتحدة»، لكنه لم يكشف تفاصيل إضافية حول خطته أو الجدول الزمني لتطبيق هذه الرسوم.
يأتي هذا التهديد بعد تصريحات مماثلة أطلقها ترمب في مايو الماضي، حين قال إن صناعة السينما الأمريكية «تموت بسرعة كبيرة»، معلنا أنه كلف وزارة التجارة وممثل التجارة الأمريكي بالبدء في إجراءات فرض رسوم بنسبة 100%. ومع ذلك، تظل الآثار المترتبة على هذه السياسة غير واضحة حتى الآن.

وفي سياق متصل، أعلن ترمب، الخميس الماضي، خططا لفرض رسوم جمركية تراوح بين 25% و100% على منتجات الأدوية ذات العلامات التجارية، والأثاث، والشاحنات الثقيلة، مشيرا إلى أن هذه الرسوم ستبدأ يوم الأربعاء، مع فرض رسوم بنسبة 100% على الأدوية المسجلة ببراءات اختراع ما لم تبنِ الشركات مصانع تصنيع في الولايات المتحدة.
كما كرر تهديده بشأن الأثاث المستورد، قائلا إن ولاية كارولاينا الشمالية «فقدت صناعة الأثاث بالكامل لصالح الصين ودول أخرى».

Trump wrote in a post on the "Truth Social" platform that foreign countries have taken business from the United States "as if they were stealing candy from a child."
He sharply criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom, describing him as "weak and incompetent," noting that the state has been severely affected by the decline of the film industry.
100% Tariff on Films
He added, "To solve this long-standing problem, I will impose a 100% tariff on all films produced outside the United States," but he did not disclose additional details about his plan or the timeline for implementing these tariffs.
This threat comes after similar statements Trump made last May, when he said that the American film industry is "dying very quickly," announcing that he had tasked the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative with starting procedures to impose a 100% tariff. However, the implications of this policy remain unclear so far.
Challenges Facing the American Film Industry
The film industry in Hollywood is a cornerstone of the American economy, contributing to the creation of over 2.3 million jobs and generating sales worth $279 billion in 2022, according to data from the Motion Picture Association. However, the industry faces significant challenges following Hollywood strikes and the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which have changed viewer habits, with many now preferring to watch films at home rather than in theaters.
Trump did not mention in his posts whether television series, which have become a profitable and popular sector, would be affected by these tariffs.
Tariffs on Pharmaceutical Products
In a related context, Trump announced last Thursday plans to impose tariffs ranging from 25% to 100% on branded pharmaceutical products, furniture, and heavy trucks, indicating that these tariffs would begin on Wednesday, with a 100% tariff on patented drugs unless companies build manufacturing plants in the United States.
He also reiterated his threat regarding imported furniture, stating that North Carolina "has lost the entire furniture industry to China and other countries."
