وأفادت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية، بأن مركز الزلزال كان على عمق 556 كيلومترًا.
ولم ترد أنباء على الفور عن وقوع خسائر بشرية أو مادية جراء الزلزال.
وتقع جزر فيجي في منطقة تسمى «حزام النار» في المحيط الهادئ، وتتعرض من وقت لآخر للعديد من الزلازل والهزات الارتدادية.
A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck today (Monday) off the coasts of the Fiji Islands located in the South Pacific.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 556 kilometers.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage due to the earthquake have been received.
