مقال يثير الرعب
المقال الذي نُشر في الثامن من سبتمبر زعم أن كاتبه دفع لساحرات عبر موقع Etsy لإلقاء «لعنة» على كيرك، مستعرضاً خدمات سحرية مثل التسبب بطفح جلدي، مع أعطال في البث، أو مشكلات غير متوقعة في الملابس، كرد فعل على مواقفه السياسية المثيرة للجدل في الأوساط الليبرالية.
رد فعل إريكا
وكشفت المذيعة ميغان كيلي عبر برنامجها على يوتيوب أن زوجة تشارلي كيرك شعرت بقلق شديد من المقال، لدرجة أنها طلبت من صديقها الكاهن الكاثوليكي الحضور إلى منزلها وإجراء طقوس صلاة لحماية زوجها ليلة صدور المقال. وبعد يومين فقط، قُتل كيرك داخل جامعة وادي يوتا، في واقعة صدمت الرأي العام الأمريكي.
تراجع Jezebel
عقب مقتله، أصدرت Jezebel بياناً تعلن فيه إزالة المقال، مشيرة إلى أنه نُشر قبل الحادثة وأنها لا تشجع بأي شكل على العنف السياسي. لكن توقيت النشر والجدل الذي أثاره خلق موجة انتقادات واسعة على المنصات الاجتماعية.
جدل حول «اللعنات»
كيلي وصفت الحادثة بأنها تحذير خطير من التعامل مع القوى الروحية أو استدعاء لعنات الساحرات، مؤكدة أن ما يبدو للبعض مجرد «مزحة» قد يحمل تبعات واقعية. وقالت: «هذا ليس لعباً، بل شر حقيقي».

The article published on September 8 claimed that its author paid witches via Etsy to cast a "curse" on Kirk, showcasing magical services such as causing rashes, broadcasting malfunctions, or unexpected clothing issues, in reaction to his controversial political stances in liberal circles.
Erica's Reaction
Host Megan Kelly revealed on her YouTube show that Charlie Kirk's wife was extremely worried about the article, to the extent that she asked her Catholic priest friend to come to her home and perform prayer rituals to protect her husband on the night the article was published. Just two days later, Kirk was killed on the campus of Utah Valley University, in an incident that shocked American public opinion.
Jezebel's Retraction
Following his death, Jezebel issued a statement announcing the removal of the article, noting that it was published before the incident and that it does not encourage political violence in any way. However, the timing of the publication and the controversy it sparked created a wave of criticism on social media platforms.
Controversy Over "Curses"
Kelly described the incident as a serious warning against dealing with spiritual forces or invoking witches' curses, emphasizing that what may seem to some as just a "joke" can have real consequences. She said, "This is not a game; it is real evil."
