تحولت مدينة أنطاليا التركية إلى ساحة فزع، بعدما اندلعت حرائق غابات هائلة في مناطق سياحية مكتظة، ما أجبر مئات السياح على إخلاء فنادقهم والهرب وسط دخان كثيف وأصوات الانفجارات الناتجة عن اشتعال الأشجار والمباني.
بدأت النيران من منطقة كوندو قرب أنطاليا، قبل أن تمتد بسرعة بفعل الرياح إلى موغلا وأيدين، فيما وثقت مقاطع مصورة مشاهد مرعبة لمنتجع سياحي يلتهمه اللهب على ضفاف نهر في منطقة بيليك.
تعبئة ضخمة
دفعت السلطات التركية بأكثر من 800 رجل إطفاء مدعومين بـ 14 طائرة و20 مروحية، في محاولة لاحتواء الحرائق، بينما جرى إخلاء منازل في وسط أنطاليا ومناطق محيطة مثل أكسو.
كما أُغلق طريق ساحلي رئيسي بعد أن بات مهدداً بالنيران، وسط تحذيرات للسكان والسياح بالابتعاد عن مناطق الخطر.
كارثة متكررة
وتأتي الحادثة بعد شهرين فقط من حرائق مدمرة أودت بحياة 12 شخصاً، في وقت سجلت فيه البلاد منذ يونيو أكثر من 600 حريق غابات، غذّتها الرياح القوية وظروف الجفاف.
الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان وصف الموقف بأنه «كارثة عظيمة بحق»، مؤكداً أن أكثر من 25 ألف شخص يشاركون في جهود الطوارئ.
حالة ذعر
أظهرت المشاهد القادمة من أنطاليا سيارات ومباني متفحمة، فيما لا يزال رجال الإطفاء يواجهون صعوبة في السيطرة على ألسنة اللهب.
أما السياح، الذين قصدوا المدينة؛ لقضاء عطلة صيفية، فوجدوا أنفسهم في مواجهة سباق مع النار للنجاة بأرواحهم، وسط مشاهد تراجيدية غير مسبوقة.
The Turkish city of Antalya has turned into a scene of panic, after massive forest fires broke out in crowded tourist areas, forcing hundreds of tourists to evacuate their hotels and flee amidst thick smoke and the sounds of explosions caused by burning trees and buildings.
The fires started in the Konyaalti area near Antalya, before rapidly spreading due to the winds to Mugla and Aydin, while videos captured terrifying scenes of a resort engulfed in flames on the banks of a river in the Belek area.
Massive Mobilization
Turkish authorities deployed more than 800 firefighters supported by 14 planes and 20 helicopters in an attempt to contain the fires, while homes in central Antalya and surrounding areas like Aksu were evacuated.
A major coastal road was also closed after it became threatened by the flames, amid warnings for residents and tourists to stay away from danger zones.
Recurring Disaster
This incident comes just two months after devastating fires that claimed the lives of 12 people, during which the country recorded more than 600 forest fires since June, fueled by strong winds and drought conditions.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described the situation as a "great disaster indeed," confirming that more than 25,000 people are participating in emergency efforts.
State of Panic
Footage coming from Antalya showed charred cars and buildings, while firefighters continue to struggle to control the flames.
As for the tourists who came to the city for a summer vacation, they found themselves in a race against the fire to save their lives, amidst unprecedented tragic scenes.
