A simple incident of a fire alarm going off inside one of the residential towers in the North Point area of Hong Kong turned into a shocking scandal that rocked the local community, after chance led the police to discover a horrifying scene inside an apartment rented by a 26-year-old woman.

The Preserved Cat on the Balcony

Upon the police's arrival at the scene, they found a small Ragdoll cat, not more than eight months old, which had been preserved and placed on the balcony of the apartment, in a scene that astonished the officers and prompted the intervention of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

Previous Incidents with Dogs

This incident was just another chapter in a series of abuses involving the accused. Just one week prior, the police had raided the same apartment after neighbors complained about foul odors, leading to the discovery of the body of a Golden Retriever dog alongside a neglected Samoyed dog in poor condition. This incident resulted in her first arrest.

Surprise Inside a Hotel

During the investigations, the police uncovered another stranger surprise, as it turned out that the young woman had booked a room at a Marriott hotel near Ocean Park, where three puppies (one Corgi and two Border Collies) were found confined in a small bathroom under harsh and inhumane conditions.

Calls for Stricter Penalties

This case sparked an outpouring of outrage in Hong Kong, with activists describing it as a "recurring nightmare" against animals, calling on authorities to enact stricter laws and increase penalties for those committing acts of cruelty and mistreatment.
