خضع الرئيس الأمريكي السابق جو بايدن أخيراً، لعملية جراحية لإزالة سرطان الجلد، وفقاً لما أعلنته المتحدثة باسمه لشبكة «BBC».
وتم إجراء العملية باستخدام تقنية «موهس»، التي تتضمن استئصال الجلد المصاب تدريجياً حتى يتم القضاء على أي آثار للسرطان، ولم تقدم المتحدثة تفاصيل إضافية حول العملية.
رئيس أمريكا السابق، البالغ من العمر 82 عاماً، لوحظ أخيراً، وهو يعاني من جرح على الجانب الأيمن من رأسه.
وفي عام 2023، خضع بايدن لإزالة ورم جلدي سرطاني من صدره خلال فحص صحي روتيني.
كما تم تشخيصه في مايو الماضي بسرطان البروستاتا العدواني الذي انتشر إلى عظامه.
وكتب بايدن على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي آنذاك: «السرطان يمسنا جميعاً، لكنني وجيل، نجد القوة في اللحظات الصعبة».
وسبق لبايدن أن خضع لإزالة عدة أورام جلدية غير ميلانومية قبل توليه الرئاسة.
ومنذ مغادرته البيت الأبيض في يناير، قلّ ظهوره العام بشكل كبير.
كما يُشار إلى أن عائلة بايدن دأبت على دعم جهود مكافحة السرطان، خصوصاً بعد وفاة ابنهما بو عام 2015 بسبب سرطان الدماغ.
Former U.S. President Joe Biden has finally undergone surgery to remove skin cancer, according to his spokesperson who announced it to the BBC.
The surgery was performed using the "Mohs" technique, which involves gradually excising the affected skin until any traces of cancer are eliminated. The spokesperson did not provide additional details about the procedure.
The former President, who is 82 years old, was recently seen with a wound on the right side of his head.
In 2023, Biden underwent the removal of a cancerous skin tumor from his chest during a routine health check.
He was also diagnosed last May with aggressive prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
Biden wrote on social media at the time: "Cancer touches us all, but my generation and I find strength in difficult moments."
Biden has previously undergone the removal of several non-melanoma skin tumors before taking office.
Since leaving the White House in January, his public appearances have significantly decreased.
It is also noted that the Biden family has consistently supported cancer-fighting efforts, especially after the death of their son Beau in 2015 due to brain cancer.
