«التخصصي» يزرع قلباً لطفل من متبرعٍ متوفى دماغياً في الإمارات

The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh has successfully transplanted a heart into a seven-year-old Saudi child after the organ was extracted from a brain-dead donor in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The organ was then airlifted to Riyadh, and the medical team at the (Specialist) successfully performed the transplant for the child, who was suffering from advanced heart failure due to a complex congenital defect, after various therapeutic interventions had been exhausted.

The medical team ensured that the time between the extraction of the heart from the donor and its transplantation to the patient did not exceed five hours, in order to guarantee the success of the heart transplant operation. This was indeed achieved, reflecting the continuous coordination between medical teams in the Kingdom and the UAE, as part of a humanitarian collaboration aimed at saving critical cases.
