أعلن معهد فريدريش- لوفلر الألماني نجاح علماء بألمانيا في اختبار لقاح جديد ضد مرض الحمى القلاعية، يتميز بسهولة التعامل معه مقارنة باللقاحات الحالية.
وأوضح المعهد أن اللقاح الجديد الموجه ضد العامل المسبب شديد العدوى عند ذوات الأظلاف، يعتمد على تقنية الحمض النووي الريبي المرسال، والتي أصبحت معروفة من خلال لقاحات كورونا (كوفيد - 19).
وأجريت الاختبارات في مقر المعهد بجزيرة ريمس قرب جرايفسفالد، حيث تم تعريض 24 رأسا من البقر للفايروس، كان من بينها 18 عجلا حصلت مسبقا على جرعتين من اللقاح المطور بواسطة الحمض الريبوزي. وعلى عكس الحيوانات غير الملقحة، لم تظهر على العجول الملقحة أية أعراض مرضية، كما أنها أفرزت كميات أقل بكثير من الفايروس، ويرجح الباحثون أن هذه الحيوانات لا تنشر الفايروس.
وقال المعهد إن هذا يعد أول اختبار ناجح للقاح يعتمد على تقنية الحمض الريبوزي لعلاج الحمى القلاعية في الحيوانات الكبيرة.
يذكر أن الحمى القلاعية مرض فايروسي شديد العدوى بالنسبة للحيوانات ذوات الأظلاف، لكن عدواه لا تصيب البشر. ويتسبب المرض في إحداث آلام شديدة عند الحيوانات وغالبا ما تنتهي بنفوق الحيوان.

The institute explained that the new vaccine, aimed at the highly contagious agent affecting cloven-hoofed animals, is based on messenger RNA technology, which has become well-known through COVID-19 vaccines.
The tests were conducted at the institute's headquarters on the island of Riems near Greifswald, where 24 heads of cattle were exposed to the virus, including 18 calves that had previously received two doses of the vaccine developed using ribonucleic acid. Unlike the unvaccinated animals, the vaccinated calves showed no clinical symptoms and excreted much lower amounts of the virus, leading researchers to believe that these animals do not spread the virus.
The institute stated that this is the first successful test of a vaccine based on ribonucleic acid technology for treating foot-and-mouth disease in large animals.
It is worth mentioning that foot-and-mouth disease is a highly contagious viral disease for cloven-hoofed animals, but its contagion does not affect humans. The disease causes severe pain in animals and often results in their death.
