لقي 18 شخصاً مصرعهم وأُصيب 9 آخرون، بينهم اثنان في حالة حرجة، الجمعة، جراء سقوط حافلة في وادٍ بمنطقة «المحمدية» في العاصمة الجزائر، وفق السلطات المحلية.
وأعلن التلفزيون الجزائري الرسمي أن «الحادثة نجم عنها انحراف حافلة لنقل المسافرين وسقوطها من الجسر في مجرى وادي الحراش بين المحمدية اتجاه الهواء الجميل شرق الجزائر العاصمة».
وقالت «مصالح الحماية المدنية» الجزائرية، في بيان، إن فرق الإنقاذ هرعت إلى مكان الحادثة فور وقوعها، مشيرةً إلى أن عمليات البحث والإنقاذ لا تزال متواصلة حتى الآن.
وبحسب البيان: «تم إسعاف المصابين ونقلهم إلى المستشفى المحلي، فيما تم تحويل الوفيات إلى مصلحة حفظ الجثث لذات المؤسسة».
وعقب الحادثة، أعلن وزير الداخلية الجزائري أن رئيس الجمهورية قرر منح 100 مليون سنتيم لعائلات ضحايا الفاجعة الأليمة بوادي الحراش.
18 people were killed and 9 others were injured, including two in critical condition, on Friday due to a bus falling into a ravine in the "Mohammadia" area of the Algerian capital, according to local authorities.
The official Algerian television announced that "the incident resulted from a deviation of a passenger transport bus and its fall from the bridge into the course of the Harrach River between Mohammadia heading towards the beautiful air east of Algiers."
The Algerian "Civil Protection Services" stated in a statement that rescue teams rushed to the scene of the incident immediately after it occurred, noting that search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
According to the statement: "The injured were treated and transported to the local hospital, while the deceased were transferred to the morgue of the same institution."
Following the incident, the Algerian Minister of Interior announced that the President of the Republic decided to grant 10 million centimes to the families of the victims of the tragic incident in the Harrach valley.
