طالب عضوا مجلس الشيوخ الجمهوريان جوش هاولي (ميزوري) ومارشا بلاكبيرن (تينيسي)، بإجراء تحقيق فوري في شركة «ميتا بلاتفورمز»، بعد تقرير لـ«رويترز» كشف وثيقة داخلية تسمح لروبوتات الدردشة المدعومة بالذكاء الاصطناعي بإجراء محادثات «رومانسية أو حسية» مع الأطفال.
وبحسب وكالة «رويتزر»، أكدت «ميتا» صحة الوثيقة، لكنها أوضحت أنها أزالت الأجزاء المتعلقة بالسماح لهذه الروبوتات بالمغازلة أو التفاعل الرومانسي مع الأطفال.
وأشار السناتور هاولي عبر منصة «إكس» إلى أن «ميتا» تراجعت عن هذه السياسات فقط بعد اكتشاف الأمر، داعياً إلى تحقيق فوري.
وانتقدت السناتور بلاكبيرن تقاعس «ميتا» عن حماية الأطفال عبر الإنترنت، مؤكدة ضرورة تمرير إصلاحات مثل قانون سلامة الأطفال على الإنترنت (KOSA)، الذي يفرض واجب الرعاية على شركات التواصل الاجتماعي لحماية القاصرين.
وأشار السناتور رون وايدن (ديمقراطي من أوريغون) إلى أن هذه السياسات مقلقة وخاطئة، مطالباً بمسؤولية «ميتا» عن أي أضرار تتسبب بها هذه الروبوتات، كما شدد السناتور بيتر ويلش (ديمقراطي من فيرمونت) على أهمية وضع ضوابط صارمة للذكاء الاصطناعي لحماية الأطفال.
وتشهد شركة «ميتا بلاتفورمز»، المالكة لمنصات فيسبوك وإنستغرام وواتساب، تدقيقاً متزايداً بشأن سياساتها المتعلقة بالذكاء الاصطناعي، خصوصاً بعد تقارير كشفت ممارسات مثيرة للجدل في إدارة روبوتات الدردشة.
Republican Senators Josh Hawley (Missouri) and Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee) have called for an immediate investigation into Meta Platforms after a report by Reuters revealed an internal document allowing AI-powered chatbots to engage in "romantic or sensual" conversations with children.
According to Reuters, Meta confirmed the authenticity of the document but clarified that it had removed the parts related to allowing these chatbots to flirt or engage in romantic interactions with children.
Senator Hawley noted on the platform X that Meta only reversed these policies after the matter was discovered, calling for an immediate investigation.
Senator Blackburn criticized Meta's failure to protect children online, emphasizing the need to pass reforms like the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), which imposes a duty of care on social media companies to protect minors.
Senator Ron Wyden (Democrat from Oregon) pointed out that these policies are concerning and wrong, demanding accountability from Meta for any harm caused by these chatbots. Senator Peter Welch (Democrat from Vermont) also stressed the importance of implementing strict controls on AI to protect children.
Meta Platforms, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is facing increasing scrutiny over its AI-related policies, especially following reports revealing controversial practices in managing chatbots.
