اندلع حريق في منزل في مقاطعة تشارلز بولاية ماريلاند الأمريكية ما أسفر عن مقتل أربعة أطفال وراشدين اثنين، بحسب ما أفادت به السلطات.
وأعلنت قناة «دبليو تي أو بي» التلفزيونية بأن شخصا واحدا تمكن من الفرار من الحريق الذي تم الإبلاغ عنه نحو الساعة 8:40 صباحا في المنزل الواقع في والدورف، على بعد نحو 88 كيلومترا جنوب بالتيمور.
واستغرق نحو 70 من رجال الإطفاء أكثر من ساعة للسيطرة على النيران. وتم نقل أحد رجال الإطفاء إلى المستشفى، فيما تم علاج أول مستجيب آخر في مكان الحادث لإصابته بجروح غير محددة.
ولا يزال التحقيق جاريا للوقوف على سبب الحريق. وقال نائب رئيس إدارة الإطفاء في الولاية أوليفر ألكير إن الحريق نشأ في الجانب الأيمن من المنزل داخل شرفة مغلقة.
ولم يجر الكشف عن أعمار وأسماء الضحايا حتى مساء الأحد.
A fire broke out in a home in Charles County, Maryland, resulting in the deaths of four children and two adults, according to authorities.
WTOP television reported that one person managed to escape the fire, which was reported around 8:40 AM at the home located in Waldorf, about 88 kilometers south of Baltimore.
About 70 firefighters took more than an hour to bring the flames under control. One firefighter was taken to the hospital, while another first responder was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries.
An investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire stated that the fire originated on the right side of the house inside a closed porch.
The ages and names of the victims have not been released as of Sunday evening.
