ووفقاً للسلطات، تمت العملية في ميناء رئيسي بالقرب من العاصمة سانتو دومينغو، إذ كشفت التحقيقات المشتركة بين إدارة مكافحة المخدرات وسلطات الجمارك محاولة معقدة لتهريب المخدرات إلى أوروبا. ووفقاً للتقارير، تم العثور على الكوكايين السائل ممزوجاً بعناية داخل عبوات مشروبات تجارية، في محاولة للتحايل على أجهزة الفحص المتقدمة في الموانئ.
وكشفت التقارير استخدم المهربين تقنيات كيميائية لتحويل الكوكايين إلى سائل، مما جعل الكشف عنه أكثر صعوبة مقارنة بالشكل الصلب التقليدي، إذ تم اكتشاف الشحنة بعد تفتيش دقيق بمساعدة تقنيات المسح الضوئي وكلاب بوليسية مدربة.
وشملت العملية، التي بدأت نهاية الأسبوع الماضي وانتهت الثلاثاء، تحليل أكثر من 46 ألف زجاجة (تحديداً 46944)، من بينها 623 عبوة ثبت احتواؤها على 137.28 كيلوغرام من الكوكايين السائل، وفق ما أعلنه المعهد الوطني لعلوم الطب الشرعي (INACIF) بقيادة مديرته سونيا ليبرون.
وتشير التقديرات إلى أن قيمة الشحنة المضبوطة تتجاوز ملايين الدولارات، مما يجعلها واحدة من أكبر العمليات في المنطقة، إذ تم القبض على عدد من الأفراد المرتبطين بالعملية، وتواصل السلطات تحقيقاتها لكشف شبكة التهريب الدولية المسؤولة عن هذه المحاولة.

In an unprecedented security operation, authorities in the Dominican Republic announced the seizure of a massive shipment of liquid cocaine, cleverly hidden inside juice and soda containers, in one of the largest drug smuggling attempts in the country's history.
According to the authorities, the operation took place at a major port near the capital, Santo Domingo, where joint investigations between the Drug Enforcement Administration and customs authorities uncovered a complex attempt to smuggle drugs to Europe. Reports indicate that the liquid cocaine was carefully mixed inside commercial beverage containers in an attempt to evade advanced screening devices at the ports.
Reports revealed that the traffickers used chemical techniques to convert cocaine into a liquid form, making it more difficult to detect compared to the traditional solid form, as the shipment was discovered after a thorough inspection aided by scanning technologies and trained police dogs.
The operation, which began last weekend and concluded on Tuesday, involved the analysis of more than 46,000 bottles (specifically 46,944), of which 623 containers were found to contain 137.28 kilograms of liquid cocaine, according to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) led by its director, Sonia Lebrón.
Estimates suggest that the value of the seized shipment exceeds millions of dollars, making it one of the largest operations in the region, with several individuals linked to the operation arrested, and authorities continuing their investigations to uncover the international smuggling network responsible for this attempt.
The Drug Enforcement Administration confirmed that this operation reflects the country's commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking, amid rising smuggling activities in the Caribbean region.
