أعلنت السلطات البلغارية ضبط كمية قياسية من الكوكايين عند معبر «كابيتان أندرييفو» الحدودي، خلال تفتيش سيارة دبلوماسية قادمة من تركيا.
وأفادت وكالة الأنباء البلغارية نقلاً عن السلطات المختصة في البلاد أن «كمية الكوكايين المضبوطة البالغة 205.94 كيلوغرام، عُثر عليها داخل سيارة كان على متنها دبلوماسي من جمهورية الكونغو معتمد في بروكسل».
وبحسب المدعي العام لمقاطعة خاسكوفو جنوب بلغاريا إيفان ستويانوف، فقد تم اكتشاف المخدرات خلال عملية تفتيش جرت في 18 يوليو.
ووفقاً للمعلومات المتوفرة، كانت المخدرات معبأة داخل خمس حقائب سفر. وأوضحت الوكالة أن السلطات البلغارية اعتقلت -إلى جانب الدبلوماسي- امرأة تحمل الجنسية البلجيكية، إضافة إلى مواطن بلغاري كان يقود السيارة، وقد وُجهت إليهم اتهامات رسمية.
وقدّرت المحكمة المختصة قيمة الشحنة المضبوطة بنحو 37.69 مليون ليف بلغاري (أي ما يعادل نحو 22.4 مليون دولار أمريكي).
The Bulgarian authorities announced the seizure of a record amount of cocaine at the "Kapitan Andreevo" border crossing during the inspection of a diplomatic vehicle coming from Turkey.
The Bulgarian news agency reported, citing the relevant authorities in the country, that "the seized amount of cocaine, totaling 205.94 kilograms, was found inside a vehicle that was carrying a diplomat from the Republic of Congo accredited in Brussels."
According to the prosecutor of the Haskovo district in southern Bulgaria, Ivan Stoyanov, the drugs were discovered during an inspection that took place on July 18.
According to available information, the drugs were packed inside five travel bags. The agency clarified that the Bulgarian authorities arrested - in addition to the diplomat - a woman holding Belgian nationality, as well as a Bulgarian citizen who was driving the vehicle, and formal charges have been brought against them.
The competent court estimated the value of the seized shipment at approximately 37.69 million Bulgarian lev (equivalent to about 22.4 million US dollars).
