في واقعة صادمة هزّت مدينة لوس أنجلوس الأمريكية، توفيت الشابة جيسيكا ماكلوهلين (24 عاماً) بعد أيام من تعرّضها لاعتداء عنيف من قِبل مديرتها في متجر 7-Eleven، قامت خلاله بالجلوس على الجزء العلوي من جسدها، ما تسبب بانقطاع تنفّسها وإصابتها بموت دماغي.
وبحسب التحقيقات، فقد نشب شجار بين جيسيكا ومديرتها في 24 يونيو، تطوّر إلى قيام المديرة بجذب شعرها ثم الجلوس بقوة على صدرها، ما أعاق تنفّسها تماماً. ورغم محاولة زملائها التدخل، إلا أن جيسيكا فقدت وعيها سريعاً، وتم إعلان وفاتها لاحقاً بعد نزع أجهزة الإنعاش.
المديرة، التي لم يُكشف عن هويتها، فرت من المكان بعد محاولتها حذف تسجيلات كاميرات المراقبة، ولا تزال الشرطة تبحث عنها حتى الآن.
من جهتها، طردت شركة 7‑Eleven المديرة فوراً من منصبها، وأعلنت أنها تتعاون بشكل كامل مع السلطات للتحقيق في الواقعة، حسبما صرحت لهوية إعلامية أمريكية. كما أعربت العائلة عن أملها في تحقيق العدالة.
In a shocking incident that rocked the city of Los Angeles, 24-year-old Jessica McLaughlin died days after being violently assaulted by her manager at a 7-Eleven store, during which the manager sat on the upper part of her body, causing her to stop breathing and suffer brain death.
According to investigations, a fight broke out between Jessica and her manager on June 24, escalating to the manager pulling her hair and then forcefully sitting on her chest, completely obstructing her breathing. Despite her colleagues' attempts to intervene, Jessica quickly lost consciousness and was later pronounced dead after life support was removed.
The manager, whose identity has not been disclosed, fled the scene after attempting to delete surveillance camera recordings, and the police are still searching for her.
For its part, 7-Eleven immediately fired the manager from her position and announced that it is fully cooperating with authorities to investigate the incident, according to a statement to an American media outlet. The family also expressed hope for justice to be served.
