The artistic and cultural community in the UAE was devastated by the passing of the artist and media personality Razeqa Al-Tarash, who passed away last Friday at the age of 71, after a remarkable career that spanned over 50 years in radio, television, and drama.
Razeqa was one of the first female voices to appear on the airwaves of Abu Dhabi Radio in the late 1960s, and she quickly became one of the leading figures in the media scene, before transitioning to acting and participating in several series that resonated with the audience, most notably "Tamasha," "Al-Qayyadah," and "Ashhifan," where she portrayed the character "Mytha," which marked a significant milestone in her career.
In addition to acting, Al-Tarash made significant contributions to establishing the presence of Emirati women in the cultural scene, as she was known for her social awareness, simplicity, humility, and her commitment to presenting works that reflect her local environment and authentic values.
With her passing, the Gulf artistic scene has lost one of its calm and influential figures, who contributed silently to its foundation and continued with dedication.
